No he hasn't what? There is no standard route. I could name respected boxers who didn't face a "live body" until well after the 20 fight mark. Amar would have been a step up. I don't think it's fair to judge somebody after 17 fights for not stepping up.

There's a difference to being ' a respected boxer' to the next big thing as his team are claiming.

Clevely 17th fight was for the British title.
Bellew's 17th fight was for Clevs world title.

The stuff his team are spouting he should be at least fighting domestic level . end of.

I think the problem people have with him is throwing Kov's name around like there is any chance he would fight him.
Yarde literally hasn't been in a 50/50 fight yet - 17 fights plenty of guys have done the same thing but if hes going to be taking on the best in the division he needs better quality opposition now. Otherwise when he gets to the top if he does hes going to be a one trick pony

Agreed. I want to see the lad get punched in the face really really hard and see how he deals with it. I want to see someone really force him to work at a pace he’s not used to and see what answers Yarde can come out with and have to dig deep for heart and desire. He’s had none of these boxes ticked yet. He needs opponents who can ask him these questions because he’s coasting at the minute in my opinion. I’m not saying chuck him in like what’s been done with Ritson and Cheeseman but at least get him to domestic level.

    End of lol.

You clearly don't understand my point.
I never said ALL boxers, I said some don't step up. I guess we just disagree.

I completely agree with you. I'm not a fan of his and I don't regard him as a future world champ. I just think after 17 fights it's a bit early for the criticism he has received.

    Yarde hasn't been a 90-10 fight leave alone a 50-50

I like him, but I think the stick is justified. The way he's been managed looks like they're trying to steer him all the way towards a world title bid on PPV without ever facing any opponent which may risk the payoff. They are not the first to try this and they won't be the last but it doesn't mean they shouldnt get called out for it.

I think it's hard to name many British fighters who went on to world honours who have started off as slowly as him in fairness.

    Ricky Hatton for one.

I'm not saying he will ever capture a world title.

Who will take the blame when he gets sparked at world level?

Nobody can know how he'll get on but he certainly talks the talk.

Hatton was also a kid at the same stage Yarde is at. A 21 year old who was fighting every few months and would be British champion a couple of weeks after he turned 22. Yarde is 27 and fighting utter nobodies whilst telling the world Kovalev is keeping his world titles warm.

Reminds me of a certain American WBC Heavyweight Champion after around 30 fights.

Given the amount of decent domestic LHWs around, it is staggering that he isn't at least being matched with one of them.

Let’s be clear the criticism isn’t-
    1. The pitifully low level of competition (no one inside the world top 40)
    2. The avoiding of all domestic competition.
    3. The shouting about how he could beat certain fighters in the top 10, whilst then turning down offers to face them.

The issue is his extremely high ranking and the massive hype around him combined with all of the above.

The public know when it’s all hype. With Yarde it remains ALL HYPE.

We know nothing about his actual level based off him bladdering another international roll over job in less than 6 rounds. We can guess that his serious aversion to any real competition is linked though to serious deficiencies (Chin and Stamina), that would be brutally exposed if he ever steps up to the top 10.

IFL videos involving him now are 90% negative in downvotes and comments, this is the highest negativity around any British boxer today...

Is the only solution at this point to regain popularity, involve him stepping up to the top 10?
