Anti-European brainwashing in all seriousness is working very effectively in the US

Ricky Hatton was back to his old self last night, stylistically. The same style with the aggression and quality which saw him develop into one of the superstars of British boxing.

With the fanbase he has deveoped and the glowing references from ex-pros and reporters he has recieved, it is fair to say that style is not at all boring. Ricky Hatton is exciting that is pretty much a fact (I am quite sure the British press haven't fooled me into thinking that.

Hatton puts in a great display last night. He destroys a name boxer, in a fight that was very good whilst it lasted - aggression, workrate, skill and most importantly punches were landing. It was entertainment.

Yet you come one here today and people are actually putting down the win. It is not the dismissive attitude many yanks have show, the "Castillo was shot" brigade. They are inevitable. What bothers me is the wa in which the Ruiz comparisons are continuing, the 'fans' insisting Hatton is a boring fighter.

They really bought into what they heard from their commentators about Hatton having an ugly, unentertaining, cheating style even when evidence to the contrary is on display right in front of their eyes. It wasn't a classic but it was very decent.

Are Americans really that ignorant, incapable of individual thought, are their brains made of putty? I am worried by these signs, the anti-European attitude. I might never be able to help them. I might never be able to bring them to realise Joe Calzaghe is the P4P number one fighter in the world, or that Ricky Hatton is a future ATG. I am close to giving up on them.

The general viewing public probably love watching Hatton fight.

It is weirdos who inhabit boxing forums who present these bizarre, ***gotty little opinions as though they actually hold merit.

The best thing about them is how they still rate Bernard Hopkins above Joe Calzaghe. They still rate him above Hatton, for beating Tarver. They'll deny Tarver's last fight even happened as that would completely and utterly devalue the performance. They'll use he was robbed against Taylor twice as an excuse (then put Taylor top 10 because he beat Hopkins twice). Half of them cannot accept at the age of 43 Hopkins amongst the top 5 fighters in the world. How do you break down these deep rooted beliefs?

Hopkins the worlds greatest ever stay at home fighter.

Taylor is considered to be the belt holding boxer most beatable in the sport and tarver has been very poor for ages, even with his mighty performance in the rocky film coinciding with the hopkins fight. Yes Hopkins deserves his legacy because of this, i think not. No doubt he was good but great, nah.

Hopkins, Taylor and Wright few close fights between them - all 3 praised and built up together because of it. A series of close fights between Europeans? They all get knocked down together for it.

Even If Calzaghe beat 80 Mexicans In one night he'd still not be p4p no 1.

They might both be top 5 P4P fighters.

What people seemed to have missed, and I've made this point over and over, is that Castillo was actually clinching Ricky the other night. You could tell it was frustrating Ricky. I admit Ricky held excessively in the two fights preceding the Castillo fight but he was back in his best nick on Saturday and didn't try and maul.

i have seen just as many americans on this forum actually congratulate hatton as diss him.

years ago i posted on boxing .com the biggest boxing site on the net and it was 98% american and if you think hatton takes flak now then hatton would never have beaten any top 20 fighter, let alone get in the same ring as the likes of judah and tszyu.

IMO esb is much more open to european fighters than any other site, where by and large they dont get a look in.

mind you many americans on this site who have only been here a few years do not realise eastside boxing is set up initially as a pro european boxer site.
