    Stand up guy, pun intended?

More like a Jack-In-A-Box to be precise.

Rocky was a small, cheap, thuggish soft skinned badmouthing gluttonous short armed attrition punching sex fiend who was abusive towards innocent old men.

But he had heart, I'll give him that.

I'd pick Charles to beat him.

Walcott was a powerful puncher, though I think Floyd could beat him, and I don't think you could write off old Joe Louis, though I wouldn't pick him.

That's fair, I'd pick a younger Charles to beat Patterson. I'd definitely favour Floyd over old Louis

It seems, the pandemic has been restricted and logic re-enters the world of BF24.

    I disagree.

Patterson got kod once by Ingo, but won the rematch. Beside that and beeing young, only very powerful guys like Liston or exeptional talents beat him.
He prooved to hang in with strong boxers like prime Chuvalo, Bonavena and Quarry (draw), as well as he beat Machen and Cooper. This was after he got two big losses vs. Liston. Certainly had the ability to come back, hence had problems with his back.

If I had to bet, I see him going 48 - 1, lossing one time against Walcott, but winning a rematch. For me, he simly look better than Charles, surely can match him in speed. Nobody of Rockys quality opponents outsizes him, indeed its Patterson who prooved himself hanging in successful with the bigger young boys, not Rocky Marciano.

There is no reason to see him losing big against finished Louis, or past prime Charles, Walcott or Moore.

Patterson started out at 164 pounds and faced plenty of guys that size on his way up, even getting knocked down by this guy :

Honestly, if Marciano started out as a 164 pounder and getting knocked down by mediocre French middleweight, we wouldn't hear the end of it.

For his first 24 fights, little Floyd couldn't even get up to 171 pounds, he wasn't even a full light-heavy.
His first 23 opponents weighed in the 157 to 177 range.
...... and it was only in his 24th fight that he stepped up against an opponent who was over 180 (journeyman Archie McBride, 186 pounder).

He won the world heavyweight title in his 32nd fight .... but only had to beat the world's light-heavyweight champion to claim it.

In his 2nd defence of the title he fought an amateur with no previous professional experience !
And the amateur knocked him down !

I have no wish to bash Floyd Patterson but if these facts were true of Rocky Marciano, "GOAT Primo Carnera" would be having a field day with them.

Patterson might actually be the greatest of all time though, I just want to put that out there.

Floyd was still extremely young and physically unmatured when he got up to HW, so whats actually the point that he fought in a weightclass below for 30 fights plus before? Do you think these fights took something out of him continuing a further successful HW career at that time?

Lets pretend Floyd at the time he goes up in weight fights the first 25 "HW opponents" of Rockys career. Six of them were in the 170s weight range, while ten of them were in the 180s. So these amount of LHW are still included in Floyds resume as well. At age of 21, he moved up to 18X and never returned.
Your point isn´t very valid. Floyd started fighting very early and probably wasn´t physically matured, so he started fighting at HW by the age of 21. Not everybody got a Teen-Tyson like hormonal balance.

On the 26th fight, Marciano did a stepup in fighting 37 - 0 LaStarza, the KO-streak stopped. He fought horrible win/lose-ratio opponents afterwards, until the next better fighter came around in form of Rex Layne at 34 - 1. In fact, thats when be better fighters came up, making it 15 fights until the end, three of them by rematch, which is 12 different boxers. Thats what Patterson had to overcome. 12 better fighters in 49 - 0. Without exaggeration, the rest of the 49 - 0 won´t be much of a problem for HW Patterson.

12 boxers. Let check what 12 HW boxers we´re gonna find on Floyds resume:

    Jackson
    Moore
    Rademacher
    Harris (unbeaten)
    London
    Johnasson (unbeaten)
    McNeeley (unbeaten)
    Amonti
    Machen (took Liston the distance)
    Powell
Chuvalo (bigger stronger guy than anyone on Rocks resume)
    Herring
    Cooper
    Quarry (draw)
    Bonavena (see Chuvalo)

Making it 15 fighters, comparable to Rockys 12 boxers, comparing both Rocky and Floyd stepping up. Is that opposition really much worse than Rockys? I absolutely don´t think so. Rockys resume is made of old Louis, Charles and old Walcott. Patterson beat Moore too and did a better job as well.
The argument which indeed is valid, is young Patterson chin holding up, but seemed to mature more durable afterwards, which can be seen for many young fighters.
Pretending that Patterson doesn´t fight solid punchers at very young age, with no Sonny Liston coming around, I see no problem for him going 48 - 1 against that "bunch of killers" Rocky Marciano fought.
