Who wins? I'll take Cervantes by decision. He'd use that long jab to control Chavez much of the fight and outbox him.

Could a fighter like Chavez be controlled by a jab a whole fight?

I think Cervantes was too stand up and too immobile to beat Chavez.

Cervantes was shot by time Pryor fought him. If you wanna see a prime Cervantes, check out him battering Esteban Dejesus for 15 rounds.

Just a few rounds longer? Roger Mayweather lasted 10 with Chavez at 140, and gave him trouble with his jab and right hand. Cervantes was a mile and a half better than Roger Mayweather.

I see Chavez just all around too good. He walks Cervantes down in my book.
Remember what Chavez did to Mayweather first time around?

As far as chin, durability and stamina go, though not in terms of his boxing skills.

I see a close UD for Chavez in this one, maybe by a point or two. It will be close all the way and an intriguing battle in which both men will have to box and take the lead at different moments, showing their diversity and calculation.

I don't thik Chavez is physically up to this at 140.

A better fighter P4P, but cervantes was a hulking powerhouse at this weight in his prime.A poor man's Monzon.I can't see Chavez backing him up much, and tend to thnk he would be the one being moved around the ring.

Chavez relied too much on pressure and doing his grind the opponent down thing at this weight.I can't see it working on Cervantes, though there might only be 2-3 points in it.

i think it's the pure boxers or fighters that can outspeed or befuddle him that pose Cervantes the most problems.
