    Junior Welter.

Could Buchanan trouble Cervantes with his movement (and jab)?...Or is Cervantes too strong when the fight eventually goes inside/close range?

Kenny would trouble Cervantes..he would win a fair few rounds and make just about every other one competitive to the point of them becoming extremely hard to split.

But I think Antonio is to big and has to many tricks in his bag...Overall he is nearly as skilled as Kenny IMO but I think his extra range and strength give him the edge.
Ken just doesnt have the uniqueness or the unconventional tools that guys like Benitez or Pryor had to upset Antonio...He is essentially a classically trained stand up boxer much in the same mould of Cervantes.

Cervantes 9-6'ish over the Classic's giant slayer.

Buchanan too smart and tough for Pambele...the Scot wins a decision.

Tough one, but I like Cervantes. Tough fight, with most rounds closely contested, leaving us to argue about it forty years later.

Buchanan is overrated as hell on this forum.

Cervantes woulda kicked his ass up and down the ring. Not only because he's the bigger man.... but just a better fighter in general.

I agree with X. I really dont get all the buchanan love here. Cervantes was simply in a different league and outside of Paduano who was nowhere near as good as Cervantes Buchanan never fought anyone as big, Cervantes would eat Buchanan for breakfast. Remember what Duran did to Buchanan and then remember Duran wanted no part of Cervantes.

Buchanan was closer to the level of DeJesus than he was Cervantes. And the Scot would get the same treatment as DeJesus.

Cervantes Dejesus was a terrific performance by Kid Pambele. I think Dejesus was better than Buchanan and Cervantes absolutely ate Dejesus for breakfast.

Kenny wins, I'm picking this tentatively as Ken wasn't proven above 135 and Cervantes is a massive 140lber. But Ken has too much movement, a much better jab and better defense to see him outbox Cervantes

Wonderful logic. Except that Buchanan was clearly stronger and tougher than DeJesus - undisputably so - as well as being a slightly more unique stylist with a better jab and a slightly better defence. If you take the blinkers off and weigh it all up, Cervantes-Buchanan makes for an evenly matched fight that either man could win on any given day.
Cervantes was largely able to force his own fight onto DeJesus because of the disparity in size and physical strength. Whether or not you think he has the beating of Buchanan (and he very well might do) is up to you, but using the Dejesus fight as an analogy is daft. Buchanan at his best was a physical brick wall at lightweight - one whom Cervantes would have a much tougher time bodily asserting himself over than against DeJesus and one who presents a different challenge for the reasons mentioned in the first paragraph.

i don't see ken wanting to fight at light welter anyway, he was a natural lightweight but if they did fight he'd push cervantes all the way.no way would he get crushed
