Mosquera scored a flash knockdown against Valero in the 3rd round then got hurt in return when he tried to press Valero after the KD. Valero floored Mosquera twice in the 1st and probably thought he had it in the bag before it turned ugly and into a pure war of attrition.

Seeing that Gamboa has been down four times in his short career I don't put too much stock in flash knockdowns. I'm more concerned when prospects like Linares and Antillon get KTFO by unknown journeyman or when JML almost gets KOed by a crude, unskilled slugger with limited power or perhaps Amir Khan getting stretched by another skilless crude brawler in Prescott or Ortiz quiting against Maidana when the going got tough.

My point is that when he hurts somebody he follows through. His precision punches coming in from odd angles and his body attack is his thing.

I never doubted Valero's power, I only question his defense and chin, which is fair to do as neither have been fully tested. Though, I will concede that none of the bums he has fought have been able to truly challenge Valero to date.

His six question interview with Showtime he was asked

SHOWTIME: Do you think Valero is a tough fighter?

DeMarco: “I know Valero is a tough fighter and that he has taken on quality opponents. I give him much respect. There is a reason why he is the champion and he deserves all the accolades he has received. That said, Valero is no different than the opponents that I have faced. They were tough too and so we will see how this fight turns out and who wins. I’m certain it will be me.”

SHOWTIME: Would you say that Valero mirrors any of your past opponents?

DeMarco: “Every fighter is different and each has his own talent and technique. Like I said, there is a reason that he is a champion. He has that talent so I give him the respect he‘s earned. All fighters are talented in their own right so I can’t compare him to anyone I have fought in the past.”

I Have to respect him as he gives credit to Valero and all of his past opponents. Most fighters would have said yes, but he opted to state that all fighters are talented in their own right thereby refusing to compare any two fighters.

Addie it get more interesting....per his official biography he has been on his won since he was 14.

"After leaving his home of Los Mochis, MX, at the tender age of fourteen to pursue his dream of being a professional fighter, DeMarco found his way to the CREA gym run by Romulo Quirarte Sr. and his sons, Bobby and Romulo Jr. Romulo Quirarte"

When he wins this fight it will be the largest upset in years!!!
