Haye by KO. I like Tarver but Haye is too big, too fast and hits too hard.

I think Haye wins by stoppage, because Tarver has yet to taste the true power of a power punching Heavyweight, and since Hopkins hurt him in their match Tarver, makes me think Haye can hurt him worse. Granted its not a sure thing, but I'm not letting Tarver's win over glass jawed Banks wow me that much, a roided up Tarver couldn't drop Kayode and I think Haye's chin is better than when was a 24 year old kid.

Personally I think his 46 year old reflexes will not be quite enough against the speed and power of Haye. I think about Hopkins vs Kovalev, even if you are good defensively and have a good chin you can still get caught and hurt especially when you get older. If Haye catches him and hurt him, he will jump on him. I don't see Tarver getting laid out but I could see a ref stoppage.

I wouldn't say Tarver was slow in his prime, he had decent hand speed. Tarver's biggest flaw was his foot speed which is why Hopkins and Dawson handled him with such ease.

While it wouldn't shock me at all if Tarver went the distance as he is durable, the size difference, age difference and power of Haye makes a stoppage more than likely, not many go the distance with Haye, even usually durable guys get stopped.

Haye has to pass a gut check for me...literally. I have seen a picture of him with a human growth hormone gut, that muscular yet pregnant look prevalent in bodybuilding these days:patsch. Does Haye indeed still have that gut caused by his internal organs growing? If he still has that "I swallowed a beach ball" look, then I go with Tarver. I don't think somebody with innards like that can take a body punch. Even if Haye doesn't have the bulging belly I still might pick Tarver. I suspect Haye won't ever fight again because of it.:think :bbb:dead

I wasn't talking about hand speed. I meant slow of foot & upper body. Tarver was always slothlike but always had good ring vision & generalship and was able to get himself into position to defend & counter well even when in with speedier movers.

Haye is explosive but Tarver has literally seen it all in the ring. I don't see him getting caught with anything, nor do I see him mixing it up to give Haye many chances.

He'll fight smart, probably very negative, maybe try and get Haye to punch himself out and then swoop in for the kill. (and Tarver's hands are heavy, even after the move up, and well-educated, so he might be able to stop a flagging Haye in poor shape, which given a 3-year layoff isn't unthinkable..)

I didn't realize until I had their Boxrec pages up side by side that they had such similar middle names.

...or that either has a middle name period. :!:

Haye wins by brutal, highlight-reel KO within the first 3 rounds.

You make some good points IB. Tarver poses an interesting tactical challenge.

But I don't believe Haye takes this fight unless he's in great shape and believes he can win.

In that case, Tarver probably gets countered eventually. If Tarver plays it excessively negative, then he might risk losing on points. However one of these guys eventually takes a chance and someone goes down--probably Tarver.

True, it takes two to tango....Haye could pretend his toe is hurt and lure Tarver in? :think

Although I would love to see it, but I think Tarver has a good enough chin and defense to last 12 with retired Haye.

Tarves doesn't stand a chance against Haye here.
