Watched this lad the other night on ESPNN looked quality wondering what other people think, ORANGE SHORTS ?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5ESDWqbOC4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jU9Z210ljJM&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfNGuGf3ghs&feature=related
first thoughts he reminds me of a crossbreed of vargas and cotto. but doesnt have the explosive speed or the one shot capablity of either also too plodding, has been exposed as such as well. he has been outboxed by lower level opponants. waits for them, steps foreward then swings left right left right. not much head movement either...and when he does move it, it's almost like a gimic. but decent puncher and his determination gets the job done, the other fights i have seen of him he shows decent enough stamina. and is world class. but his lack of technical aspects i think will undermine his hard work.
Escalante is a very good fighter, he was unlucky not to record the stoppage against Locke. After watching the Escalante - Locke fight, I started a thread to suggest he would be an excellent opponent for Choi.. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=159704
Yes I've seen this guy on FNF a few times. An exciting fighter who I think is capable of winning an alphabet.
