two fights here both over 15 rounds antonio esparragoza vs danny little red lopez antonio esparragoza vs barry mcguigan (in belfast)
Esparragoza has too much offensive variety for Little Red, and is smarter defensively, so he should edge a close-ish decision. Antonio would eventually get on top of McGuigan's attack and start to claw back a big early deficit. But in Belfast all McGuigan needs to do is hear the final bell. McGuigan to win a pretty controversial decision.
Esparragoza's tendancies to back straight up, neglect his defence in favour of offence and dislike of fighters who get in his face kind of make me think he could lose to both these guys. Being hittable without massive offence isn't an option vs Little Red. You'll get KOed in the end. I can definitely see Esparragoza doing what Chacon did, but I see Lopez taking him out some time around eight as being more likely. I would say I can see McGuigan getting up in Esparragoza's face, under his shots, working the body and using a style which was clearly not too good for Esparragoza. But Esparragoza's uppercut was wickedly well-timed. Barry walking onto that constantly, while taking the barrage of left hooks to the body, 1-2s, and having to chase down the fleeter footed Esparragoza makes me thing that Esparragoza is likely to win that one. Villasana may have beaten Esparragoza (IMO), but Villasana was probably a little bit better than Barry.
