Many doubt Inoki's mma claims, but this exhibition with Chuck Wepner was legit, and no punches were pulled what so ever. Forget Wikipedia's bull**** about Inoki's bout with Spinks and Andre The Giant being real, this was the real deal here. Wepner was completely taken out of his element, his comfort zone was gone, but he faired very well in this....

At least til the last round, which was obviously worked. Who the hell wins on a Boston Crab? :-(

Apparently - Inoki and Masa Funaki win by boston crab. lol

I know it's seems implausible - but I have seen a guy win by single leg boston crab in grappling tournaments.

    Thanks for the link.

I made a thread about inoki. ppl believe its mma because of the Ali "fight"

    But its 100% worked.

Though I think Inoki could have subbed Wepner.

btw I wasn't the one who removed the fights from his wiki page.

I know that the dynamics of a Boston Crab can actually inflict alot of discomfort and pain on the lower back when its done right, but you can tell Wepner was over acting after Inoki throws a wild spin kick....

I think, though, for the most part, up until that point, it was legit. I know people will look at the bout and say its a fake cus Wepner throws so sloppy and choppy, but thats how he actually fought, and he did knock Inoki to his knees a few times with body shots.

Personally, imo, I believe an agreement was arranged before hand, to either go so many rounds for real, and if Wepner couldnt beat Inoki in that amount of time, he'd have to lay down, or, there was a clause to where if anyone actually got hurt that Wepner would lay down for Inoki.

I looked at a few other 'mma' bouts Inoki had with Willie Williams and Left Hook Dayton, and they seemed to be in a similar fashion with Inoki. All of it being real, until either someone was hurt or after so long a time. It made no sense to me why anything like that would be arranged in that fashion, Inoki win or lose would still have been THE MAN in Japan irregardless.
