Handwraps were always done in various styles with variations meant to protect knuckles. The only crime is tampering with the Glove, which can cause injury to both the puncher & punched. Muhammad Ali tampered with his glove and didn't get suspended, because he was a very big name :smoke

You can wrap all the tampons you want inside your untampered gloves & it will not increase your punching power & might only cause discomfort, when you tamper with the glove or insist on certain custom designs that's when you can cause more friction, at the expense mutual destruction to your fists (underrated), a hurt hand can no longer punch & the skull bone is sturdier than the fragile fist, thats why punchers do all they can to protect their knuckles (cheating by adding more tape/gauze) Hamed, Tito & Pacman were caught doing it, they did it because they needed extra protection for their fists
