Antonio Margarito appreciation thread

Freaking Cotto shows up 2 or 3 pounds heavier than Margarito on fight night, 160 to 157, just like all the other haters who pick on random things to hate on the guy.

That Margarito is too big for welter is just a myth and he has admitted that he doesn't blow up in between fights and makes 147 easy. Clottey and Williams, now those are guys that go up to 165+ for their fights and are too big, but they still make weight and at this level it does not matter, so there. :deal

 

I apologize for putting words you didn't write. But I still think, as long as the rules are the way they are, it's all fair.
I would say, that weigh-ins should be conducted the day of the fight, but this is a different thread. Margo is well within the rules, a great action fighter, can you agree with this?

he came into the ring at 163-164, so if Clottey and Williams are too big, as YOU stated, then so is Margarito.

my complaint about the weight issue is towards the game in general, not just Margarito. i can def understand that if its allowed, then people are gonna take advantage of it.

 

Margarito has balls the size of churchbells.

 

I have nightmares about Margarito. He is a warrior and a true fighter - I think Cotto will win, but who knows? Margarito definitly can win--- either way this is one of my most anticipated fights of the next few months. Margarito is my fav boxer in WW right behind Cotto and SSM.

 

I don't remember HBO even showing any fight night weights for their card and I am basing it on their past fights where Margo shows up at 157-158lbs. But that is not the point, these guys make weight and at this level it does not matter.

At least I am glad you do agree he is great action figher with the guts to take on challenges.

 

He was 160 against Cintron 2 which is what Hatton weighed against Collazo. Clottey and Williams are both 165+ on fight night yet people keep complaining about how much weight Margo puts on.

That little 130lb dude Joan Guzman put on 18lbs against Soto yet no one is up in arms about that. People just have issues with Margarito because he is a credible threat to their favorite fighters and that's why he gets so much unwarranted criticism.

 

I believe the williams affair was a poor reflection of his talent. I like him to ktfo cotto and brutalize pbf

 

Great fighter. Love his style. I wish he fought more often. I like the improvements he has made since the Williams fight. He was devastating against Cintron. He has a very good chance at beating Cotto.

 

Margarito isn't in that pic.

 

The only people who dislike Margo are the clowns who are in love with Mayweather. That's all.

Two seperate kinds of fans here. Some of us love combat while others love how much money a boxer can make. Shouldn't be too hard to separate the fans from the cheerleaders. :hi:

It doesn't concern me. When it's all said and done, and Cotto vs Margo is all over with, the genuine TRUE badass 147lber will be left standing. And no amount of cheerleader rationality will change that.

Anyone who doesnt appreciate Margarito as a fighter is not a true a fan of the sport itself.
