Technically he never used illegal handwraps in a fight based on the evidene we currently have, and assuming he knew anything about Capetillo's shady tactics - we are speaking a soft white pad covered with some greasy material that didn't make a freaking difference to the qualified state athletic officials who watched the whole procedure - is the similar assuption that Pacquiao is personally using steroids, such claims can lead to defamation lawsuits.

Tim Smith of Daily News writes "Antonio Margarito dishonored the sport by using illegal handwraps and should be banned from boxing", but the title alone has 3 ridiculous claims:

    1) there's no evidence of Margarito ever used illegal wraps in an actual fight 2) nor that he knew what Capetillo was planning to do before the Mosley fight, and 3) Margarito was already banned from boxing by the local state athletic commission despite Capetillo's statement that Margarito didn't know about it and without any evidence against this claim, plus Margarito served his time.

How exactly he dishonored boxing with something a different person tried and claiming the fighter was not involved, and how do you ban him from boxing if he's already banned despite the one year suspention is over? Margarito could've fought in Mexico but honored the unrelated, California State suspention (1 year) and still can't get a licence in the US even in a different state. That's ridiculous.

Before anyone sloooooooooooow enough not to understand my position: I don't stand behind Margarito, I coulnd't give a **** what happens to him, I stand behind that he should get a fair treatment and be only punished for something he did, supported by evidence, that's western civilized law. He's already been punished and there's still no evidence of his personal involvement in the scandal of an attempted load of glives by Javier Capetillo, for me it's just as ridiculous as the Pac personally involved in steroids claims, or like attacking a country claiming it has weapons of mass destruction when there's no evidence supporting that even after years. Nonsense, and it's said that boxing fans are buying any **** their writers put in columns.

I agree. They are not all accurate, but it would give him some credibility if he passed it. Can't go lower than he already is.

If he'd admit to what he did knowingly, I'd be all for him coming back. The fact that he denies it and used his trainer as a scapegoat just makes him twice the scumbag. I don't care to ever see him in the squared circle again.

It's unclear why anyone would try to downplay what he had in his wraps. It was serious enough that his trainer decided to actually "come clean" about what he'd done and serious enough that Rockgloves had to accept a year-long suspension without even protesting.

It's nothing like the Pacquiao steroid allegations. While there's no evidence of Pacquiao using steroids, Rockgloves was literally caught with his gloves loaded to the hilt.

There is no way I am going to believe that Margarito didn’t know what was in his wraps ....That’s pathetic to think he had no knowledge ..He sounds as believable as Resto did before he admitted to what he did wrong !

I will not lower myself to use the obscenities you did but its YOU that should be thrown out the window You & Steroid Shane together.
Even a blind man can see the difference in Mosely , a superman with boundless energy & stamina against Margarito to a self imploding shell of a fighter against Daisy Duck when he HAD to be clean

Usual lynch mob mentality. Thank goodness this hysteria won't keep this hard-working fighter from pursuing his profession.

Like said before, Margarito should fight outside US like Ali did when he was also discriminated against. Double standard in America for Margarito and others, such as Klitschkos.
