Margarito could have been the next Mexican boxing star, if it werent for those handwraps.

Rugged, active, tough, hits hard, he was a big guy (small fighters have a harder time becoming mainstream popular, it seems) and it seemed that he would look cool in a boxing poster, hanging on a Latino kid's bedroom wall.

He aint good looking, but he looks like a fighter.

I was kinda becoming a fan too.

But we have to admit that in the general sports public, his past wins have been tarnished now. Especially among the sports fans following boxing more closely.

If it werent for the controversy, he would have been the undisputed and proud flag bearer for Team Mexico boxing since the late 2000's.

He had it already. He already had the mystique and the quiet intimidation factor, before the fight even started. Like a Mexican terminator.

But all that's got a big asterisk now.

Nice to see he's going in the right direction. Looks like he's working on his uppercut and strengthening his body - two things that are very important when fighting Pacquiao. I really hope Margo is truly, savagely hungry because that's what needs to happen in order for him to have a chance at beating Pac. I'm no expert but if I was Marg I'd throw a ton of body shots and uppercuts when Pac shells up.

Mayweather is also similar in that he's never out of shape and doesn't drink or do drugs. It's probably his only admirable quality outside the ring when you look at it like that .

The only time Margo was out of shape was when he went into party mode before the Mosley fight and got smashed for his lack of discipline. Blowing up between fights and then spending most of your training camp making weight is terrible for boxers as Hatton can surely testify.

All of those pictures are actually .gifs but margarito is so slow that you don't see any difference once the animation is done.

So Pacman is "cherry picking" another bigger, stronger, taller, and dangerous fighter right? What a ***** that guy is.

And they say this fight is fixed. Why would a man do this hard training when he knows already that he's gonna lose?

If a poll had been made on this board asking who would win between Pacman/Margarito about 3 years ago, 99% of people would've shrugged it off as some joke. But look where we are at now. People are accusing Pacman of "cherry picking" Margarito. But that's ok, when the dust settles, people will recognize Pacman's greatness. He did things that were just not supposed to happen. Some will claim PED's. But most will know that it was just greatness.

Roach already admitted that he picked this fight cause of the way Margarito looked the last couple of fights so there is a bit of cherry-picking going on but this time it might come back to bite him and Pac in the ass.

Cherry-picking or not this is a tough fight for Pac and most of those dismissing it just looking for an excuse to discredit Pac for the-more than likely-victory.

It's going to be a great fight!

I dunno if it's just me, anytime one of these threads comes up it's usually the guy who loses the fight.

It's just you. We had Marquez pics before the rematch with Diaz, and he won that fight.

He was already murdered by Shane Mosley.
