Antonio Margarito is willing to die in the Ring - Give him his props

Dude impressed the **** out of me in the Pacquiao fight.

 

Definately a great chin (bar the Mosely fight. Though he entered that fight with some weight on his mind) and an iron heart. He proved that by staying to the end when Pacquiao was hammering him.

Ive always admired Cotto and rate Cotto for not ducking anyone.
Id like to say Cotto, but its a tough call.

Yes the Margarito deserves respect for fighting with loaded gloves who knows maybe for his entire career till he was caught by Nazim Richardson. Since being revealed as a cheat and made to fight without loaded gloves Margarito has looked very unimpressive. Lets give him props for being a cheat and endangering fighters lives.

It doesn't necessarily make Margarito more special than every other boxer because every warrior involved in the sport puts his life on the line once the first bell rings. Besides, fighters don't have a say in how long they should continue to fight when they are taking a beating. Marg deserves credit for being an action fighter. But unless he puts together some extraordinary wins, he's still a very average fighter. Going forward with no game plan other than to outwork your opponent isn't far from a drunk fool getting into a fight in a bar. Obviously a pro boxer would fare much better in a street fight than an average Joe. But there are high expectations when a pro fighter is competing in a professional circuit.

Don't get me wrong, I do admire ballsy fighters. I certainly don't condone a Vic Ortiz move (quitting against Maidana). I just feel sometimes people overlook what is one of the most important aspects of boxing - SKILLS. We shouldn't put fighters who have a lot of heart on a pedestal because even exceptionally brave fighters can be well below average boxers who will never be successful in the sport of boxing.
