Paul jabbing again, many of them being caught on the gloves of MArgarito, huge uppercut and a straight right from Tony rocks Williams, Now Williams is mounting a comeback, he's found his proper range on the inside, and is standing and exchanging, but getting off more, and blocking much of Tony's return fire. Margarito still marching forward, tries to reverse the momentum back in his favor, lands a few combos up top, forcing Williams to hold, but too little too late, Williams outworked him.

Both men have slowed down, which means it looks like a normal paced fight for most guys, WIlliams still letting his hands go, Margarito not landing much, then in the second minute, Margarito picks up the pace, gets in range and gets in several looping overhand rights, and is working the body while in close, Willims with constant volume, but weak shots, Margarito's shots still have some mustard on them, Williams lands a hard hook, Margarito fires back with a vicious flurry, rocking Williams prompting him to hold for the last 15 seconds of the round, and did enough to eke a really close round.

The Tijuana Tornado sense a shift in momentum, comes out like a whirling dervish, with non stop activity, WIlliams grabbing and holding any chance he gets. But Margarito just throwing him off and keeps punching. Tony looping rights in over the top and to the gut. a series of hard rights flush, uppercuts rock Williams, who Margarito has in trouble, he's flailing all over the place, Margarito is going all out, ripping him to the head and body, Margarito bringing the heat, finally the pace slows after almost a minute of action, Williams goes back to jabbing and moving. Big round for Margarito.

Margarito clearly having punched himself out in the 11th, after that furious sustained assault, comes out for the 12th looking depleted, but still trying his damnedest regardless. He's throwing, but Williams just throwing more and more accurately throughout. Margarito gets through with a couple of head snappers, but other than that, all Punisher.

    116-112 WIlliams

Margarito had his limitations, but he was such a monster that he convinced Manny to stay at 147.
Had they met earlier, Manny might not have even stayed at 147.
And there were plenty of guys at 154 whom Manny would have likely beaten quite handily.

Imo Paul regressed as a boxer after this fight. I'd say he started to turn into a brawler a bit earlier but this is the time he started picking up a lot of bad habits.

Was a good fight! Can't disagree w/ the scores. Just reminds me how bad an idea Williams jumping around in weight was. It actually kept him from securing a proper ranking in any one division.

Looking back, if anyone was ever going to comprehensively beat Mayweather, it was probably these two; controversies aside, they had the stamina, reach, and size to neutralize a lot of Mayweather's advantages and they kept throwing punches.

(Of course, Floyd would probably still find a way to win, but on paper at least, they look to have a better chance than most).

Great fight . I had it 115-113 Williams BTW. Tony immediately asked for a rematch but Goosen just laughed & said " No way Margarito is in our past not our future " He wouldnt take the risk
Both these guys had the beating of Floyd & he knew it thats why he ducked them. BUT. As we all know If he had grown a set & faced them& they didnt KO Floyd, then like everyone else they would never have got a decision win over Floyd in Vegas

Paul Williams must be the only boxer that could make Margarito look small at WW.

I think Khan had a great chance. Floyd's power wouldn't have KO'd Khan.

    PW, Khan, Margarito.

It's not a coincidence he dodged the latter 2. Maybe some legitimate reasons for it, but he didn't want it at all. Khan beat Maidana, was the bigger star, won the twitter poll by Floyd and STILL, Floyd chose Maidana. If that's not saying something I don't know what will.

I dunno man; Floyd may not have been a one-hitter quitter, and did have hand problems, but I don't think he had 'can't shatter glass(-jaw)' hand problems.
