Still find it hard to watch any of Paul's fights- something about his accident has always upset me. Maybe it's time to start watching them again..

    This.

Floyd was overall a much greater fighter than Khan.

But at that stage, Khan was the fight the fans wanted...Floyd didn't.

There was a reason for that. It was by then, a 50-50 proposition, and Floyd did not want to risk his zero in his final bout.

Floyd's poll on who to fight... Khan or Maidana... What a joke. Chooses the guy who the winner of the poll had beaten. Sums up Floyd IMO...

There was a poster from Ohio name of Boo Radley who made an epic thread in advance of Pavlik - Martinez. He made dozens of posts predicting that Martinez would be carried out of the ring on a stretcher when he fought Pavlik. He even had an "ambulance countdown " for days leading up to the fight. He was so invested in the "slaughter" that he disappeared for a few days after Sergio dismantled Kelly and left his face looking like a used panty-liner.

When Boo finally returned, his next spiel was how badly Kelly would have beaten Calzaghe. He was entertaining in his own way...he hasn't posted in a few years.

Floyd is without doubt an ATG and somewhere between 10 and 20 all-time.

A great measure of that was due to his skills, athleticism and dedication.

But some portion of his success has to be attributed to his matchmaking choices.

He avoided both Williams and Marg, fights I think he would probably have edged, and prime Pac, which was in 2010, for Floyd, at best a 50 - 50.

yup i remember boo radley and the stretcher thing became a common thread right before a thread....24 hours til ..... leaves the ring on a stretcher

there were a few other big pavlik fans who seemed to come and go just like some of the adamek fans and the klitschko fans

It would be quite redundant at this point, I've seen the match in excess of 10 times, maybe even 15, it's easily one of my favorite matches from the last 2 decades. Whereas the Williams-Margarito match, it had been a while since I'd seen it, and it needed a revisit. Although, maybe I'll do one.... if I feel like watching it again, which I get that hankering about once a year.:sisi1

Here's my scorecard for the record.

    Round 1 Martinez 10-9
    Round 2 Martinez 10-9
    Round 3 Martinez 10-9
    Round 4 Williams 10-9
    Round 5 Williams 10-9
    Round 6 Williams 10-9
    Round 7 Williams 10-9
    Round 8 Martinez 10-9
    Round 9 Williams 10-9
    Round 10 Martinez 10-9
    Round 11 Martinez 10-9
    Round 12 Martinez 10-9

    115-113 Martinez

    116-112 is fine as well.

This was Margarito before he was caught with plasters. Very impressive performance by Williams

I was lurking at the time, but hadn't officially joined yet, but yeah I remember that. I never hesitated for a second in thinking Pavlik would beat him to a pulp. But it would have been a sight to behold as long as it lasted. For the record, I still have all of my VHS tapes from that era.:D

Already did it, a few years back.:D
Ray Leonard vs. Marvin Hagler 12 Rounds @ Middleweight. April 4, 1987.

    Round 1 Leonard 10-9
One sided round for Ray, Hagler landed next to nothing.
Round 2 Leonard 10-9 Better MH body work early, Ray pulled away with hard counter rights & hooks.
Round 3 Leonard 10-9 Hagler starts out well, but Ray's far faster hands and cleaner shots edge it.
Round 4 Leonard 10-9 Ray countering the hell out of him, and showboating while he's doing it. East work.
Round 5 Hagler 10-9, close Marvin caught him with a right that buckled him, but still barely won the round.
Round 6 Leonard 10-9 Brilliant round by Ray, who stood his ground and landed in combination throughout.
Round 7 Leonard 10-9 Ray standing his ground at times teeing off on Hagler, Hagler finished strong.
Round 8 Leonard 10-9 Close round, Hagler cut the ring off well, got his jab on track but was still outworked.
Round 9 Leonard 10-9 Hagler hurt Ray and flurried, but Ray came back and unloaded a barrage to the bell.
Round 10 Leonard 10-9 Ray is gassed at this point, but manages to steal round with a few blistering flurries.
Round 11 Leonard 10-9 Hagler marching forward, landing little, Ray tagging him with flurries throughout.
Round 12 Hagler 10-9 Ray came damn close to winning this one too, but he was gassed, & MH was more accurate.

    Ray Leonard 118-110

Way less close than I remembered it to be. It was pretty much a one sided Ray Leonard schooling. I could see maybe 117-111 the closest I could possibly stretch it is to 116-112, but that's it. The rest of you guys, how did you score it?

Damn, 118-110 Leonard? I had it 7-5 to leonard but that fight is one of the most hotly debated fights in the history of boxing.

What can I say, I can be a harsh judge sometimes.:D I think Hagler did a magnificent job pushing Leonard to the brink, and was damn competitive in every round, he just didn't do quite enough and wasn't accurate enough to take many of the rounds.

At the time I thought Hagler was robbed but he was my favorite boxer and I was 11.
Watched it about 10 years ago gave it to Leonard by 2 rounds
Watched it about a year ago and was suprised to score it 116-112 Leonard.
So definately shifted over time. I remember watching with the family back in the day and feeling a bit frustrated with Hagler not getting much offense off. Leonard was pretty good at shoe shining and nicking rounds.
I would have liked to see the fight a few years earlier Leonard definately waited him out but I'm over it now.

Pretty similar evolution for me, although I've always had Leonard winning, it's just gotten wider over time.
