According to his Facebook page. Will he be missed? Will he be remembered for some good fights or just the handwrap scandal?

Funny, my first thought was that is a shame but credit to him for being honest with himself.

Then I remembered the handwraps so not so sad!

  3. Never liked him.. The Cotto win aside his record is not as good as many people think.

He was due to fight in July too..

Should have never thrown a punch in the ring Again after the hand wrap disgrace.

He seriously damaged Cotto that night with cuts and psychologically.

If he has retired then good riddance to bad rubbish. Hope he's never allowed to train fighters or work their corners.

    Nothing but a dirty cheat.

    He could've killed someone!

I was such a big fan, really cheering him on against Cotto in their first fight.

Shame on Pacman for giving him a payday! Can't blame Cotto so much though!

    Dear Family, Friends, and Fans,

After twenty-two years of full dedication to the profession I love, I have made the decision to announce my retirement from boxing. After much thought and extended conversations with my family and team, we have all agreed that the time to hang up my gloves and begin a new chapter in life has arrived.
I always told my family and team that I would walk away from boxing when I felt I could no longer compete at the level I believed I needed to be, in order to be successful. Although the passion and drive are still there, I have to accept that my time to walk away has arrived.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Michelle and my family for their support, encouragement, and most of all, their love. Not only did they give me their unconditional love and support during the good times, their love and support grew larger during the times that I was at my lowest. I also want to thank my team, Sergio Diaz Jr and Francisco Espinosa. They are not only my management, they are my family. For sixteen years, they guided my career and did what was best for me. To my trainers, without your drive and motivation, I would not have had the success. You were an integral part of my career. I thank you for your dedication. I want to thank my promoters, Bob Arum, Todd duBoef, and everyone at Top Rank. I am proud to say that I began and ended my career with a great promotional company. As a non privileged child, I had dreams. I dreamt of giving my family a better life. I dreamt of owning a car, owning a home, traveling the world, and helping others in need. Bob, I thank you for helping me fulfill those dreams. Finally, I want to thank all of my fans for their love and loyal support. Without you, there would be no Antonio Margarito.

I leave the cuts, bruises, and sweat, but I’m not leaving the sport. I will continue in the sport that gave me so much, Now, however, it is time for me to give back to the sport.

He will be missed, Antonio Margarito was a warrior. His display of defiance against Manny PAC was something unprecedented in my opinion. I still feel there was controversy over his hand wraps, people where trying to make out his wraps where cast in stone. Illegal hand wraps can mean many things, his toughness and heart and share will to compete, is something you cannot cheat, you cannot cheat what made Antonio Margarito the man the fighter he was, a Miexican Scar face, laughing and smiling in the eyes of defeat, born out of poverty where you get very few favours, and that is the way he fought inside of the ring. In all his defeats.......he was a bad ass, nobody here can say otherwise.

When Antonio Margartito came back from his ban, he was feed to the lions. Seriously, look at the punishment he took off Manny PAC..? Most fights would of been stopped, there was something very sadistic about that fight. But people forget that Manny PAC has NEVER been the same since that fight, he went straight to hospital after the fight and canceled hisnmusicn concert.

Right up until the end, with one eye. Nobody nobody broke Antonio Margarito, even when he was smiling at Shane Mosley from the canvas, when he was calling Cotto on and walking through his punches, taking bullets, like the Mexican scar face.....

People in boxing and in life in general are small minded.

Antonio Margarito was and is a warrior.

"He beat Cotto, and Cotto knows it. Antonio Margarito was never broken by Cotto, Cotto was broken by Margarito. Hand wraps..? I still believe it was controversy. What really beat Cottonthat night was Margarito toughness, and unrivaled will to compete. A rare passion in which in have seen in afew fighters and animals like Lions for example"....

Cotto set the record straight in the second fight. He was always a superior fighter to Margo.

He robbed Cotto. Look at the video evidence of Cotto's face in the first fight.
