Margarito.....C-level fighter at best

 

margo was a beast he had insane stamina and hit hard the guy was one of the biggest ever fighters at the weight class he fought in

 

Also had the best chins in boxing
He was truly a beast, regardless of what people say about him!

 

Bigger how? There's been a multitude of fighters 5'11 and taller who campaigned at WW.

He hit hard cause he had bricks in his hands. You can't go from the biggest win of your career, get caught with illegal hand bricks, then go from the biggest loss of your career from a fading, shot former champ.

 

I never was fully convinced he cheated outside of attempting to vs Mosley

To me I feel that A) He was involved in many title fights and TV fights there are commission officials and cameras everywhere I feel like theres no way a fighter could do this more than once or at all hence he was caught

B) When Billy Collins Jr fought Resto, Resto was caught immediately in the ring by Billy Collins Sr. Sr went to shake hands with Resto and could tell right away something was not right. Antonio took off his gloves got his hand raised shook some hands posed for pictures and nobody had the slightest idea his gloves or wraps were tampered with.

At the end of the day I never really was a fan of his and probably rooted against him in every fight I saw but Pacquiao

 

i think the worst thing I cant stand about margarito is this

listening to his fans make excuses for the mosley fight...ive heard "he knew he was facing possible suspensions yadda yadda blah blah...so his focus was off"...which is a load of garbage..margarito just was what he was and he got his butt kicked

and the excuses for the 2nd cotto fight "the doctor saved cotto...was a terrible stoppage ...he was going to finish off cotto"....no he wasn't...cotto was more likely to make margarito permanently blind than margarito was going to stop cotto....had cotto fought smarter he would have beaten him like that in the first fight....but cotto was too proud to clinch when he should have/needed to.....he executed the game plan perfectly in the 2nd fight and whooped his rear end

its garbage like that which makes me hate margarito.......the guy was tough for sure....great stamina...but no real boxing skills.....cant blame him for that...its just him.....

but he was no Floyd boogeyman...Floyd would have tuned him up easily.....and Floyd agreed to fight him ...bob arum even confirmed it....Floyd just wanted 4 mil extra in total guarantees for future cotto and hatton fights after that from arum...which was basically an extra 2 mil a fight...and bob said no....bob played nice when he thought Floyd would still use him to promote fights in the future...and when Floyd worked with Oscar instead he went crazy and started the campaign of Floyd being "scared"........

margarito has garnered my distaste because people have been unrealistic about him....he was ok...he was tough...but Floyd would have beat him easily....like shane and cotto did..
