His toughest fight imo was the first Cotto fight which despite winning, lost his prime after 11 brutal rounds.

I had never seen Margarito take so much punishment and look so busted up as he did against Cotto. He proved his toughness by coming forward non-stop and outwilled, and outslugged, the body punching Boricua. He got the victory at the expense of his prime, but a great win it was.

 

It is rumored, possibly confirmed that Pacquiao had stacked wraps under his gloves, and even then Margarito kept coming forward. Other fighters have quit with much less damage.

I'm not going to come out like the Floyd/Canelo fan boys & accuse Pac of having stacked wraps like PimpC,drenlou & company have accusing Margarito with no proof whatsoever BUT. I did seem strange that Robert Garcia suspected that & demanded Pac's wraps be removed. Freddie refused point blank WHY???????
The commission let him get away with it. WHY???? Then Pac proceeded to display enormous power he'd never shown before destroying Marg's eye socket surely there was suspicion?? Look at Mosely's sudden transformation displaying unbridled power & energy & non stop attacks like the Energizer Bunny? Why was there never any inquiry where that came from ?? After all Mosely is a PROVEN & EVENTUALLY SELF CONFESSED Peds abuser after BALCO proving he was lying about being innocent & passing two polygraphs by producing receipts & the liar had to confess.
When you break it all down there are far more unanswered questions about Pac & Mosely than anything concerning Margarito especially Mosely after he had to confess he'd used Peds before.
Tony's only mistake was in LEGITIMATELY kicking Cotto's azz when he wasnt supposed to. He spoiled the cash cows big $$$$ plans Yet neither had the cojones to face him in the ring. He had to be got rid of End of story

Pacquiao was definitely using different wraps in his fights in Texas. He also put Clottey in a shell with it. Marg did the same/similar thing. If I remember right Steward pointed out how surprised he was both fighter’s were allowed tape directly on the skin or something along those lines. But It was legal, it’s just what that commission allows.
