He weighs around 170 when he's not training, and weeks before the fight he is bang on weight. Where does that additional weight come from, if he is above 168 on fight night?

Froch claims he does not go over 173 (Men's fitness magazine article he did), though I believe it's more like 180 and 185 on a full stomach.

173 is around what I was thinking. He's not a big guy. He's very undersized against a lot of the best 168lbers, which makes his achievements even better.

This Jack fellow isn't too bright.

    Froch make Junior Middleweight?

Yeah, and Golovkin can make junior welter.

    And there's the angle.

What fight is he undersized in? He always looks comparable to every SMW he faces. You would notice if he was fighting at 167 against the likes of Bute and Kessler and you would still notice if he's fighting at 173 because he'd still be giving up 9lbs.

I'm a BIG Froch fan, but to act like hes some tiny SMW is absurd.

Froch is a very strong fighter even though he doesn't have the weight or size to back that up. Some fighters are just naturally strong without them having additional weight to create that strength.

There's also another argument, which I think is true regarding Froch. Staying in and around a weight when you're not fighting, when you're training and when you're in the ring is massively beneficial. You get all these guys, like Chavez, weighing 180lbs when they train and then they dehydrate by 20lbs in order to make their weigh limit and then the next night, they are 180lbs again. That doesn't always work and in the case of many fighters, they are strong by being lighter because they're in a more appropriate weight. The process of dehydrating negates any benefit of having an additional 10lbs on the opponent. Froch being lighter doesn't mean that he's not as strong for two reasons - one, because weight doesn't equal strength and then secondly, because many fighters who are 'underweight' are actually stronger for that.

You've got to consider that this type of preparation has been the formula that most greats throughout history used. Guys like Ike Williams, Willie Pep, Ray Robinson, Harry Greb and so on, never got overweight, they didn't lose wight when they trained and when they stepped into the ring, they were the weight they should be. This phenomena of dehydrating is a modern one and there's little proof to suggest it makes for better or stronger fighters.

Froch isn't undersized for these reasons. He is, however, the lighter boxer in most of his bouts. The most he will ever weigh is in the early 170's, when he's training he's bang on weight and on fight night, he's at 168 or even under it. That's just the fact of the matter. It's debatable why he's so strong but it's not debatable that he weighs less than his opposition on fight night.

There's no angle to what I'm saying. It's pure fact which nobody seems to have an answer to, which makes it off why anyone can disagree.

 Ummm, no he couldnt. Froch is one of those rare fighters who
walks around a few lbs over there fighting weight. Look at Carl's body
    at weigh-ins. He's gutted.
