I've had enough of these Top Rank vs Top Rank bouts, now i like Cotto
he's a good fighter but there's just "NO WAY" he beats Margarito.

Cotto is just not durable enough to last twelve rounds with Tony, Cotto
wilts down the stretch in tough fights, he did it in the Mosley fight where
in the later rounds he was in retreat, he did some good boxing and managed to win but if Mosely could have effectively cut off the ring i
believe he could have won and even stopped Cotto.

In the Margarito fight Cotto boxed beautifully, but from the start of the fight he was on his bike and could not back Margarito up at all, not to mention he hit Margarito with some very clean and hard punches and
    did not hurt him.

Margarito was so unfazed by Miguel punches that he would literally jog
after Cotto, the amount of pressure Marg puts on his opponent breaks
confidence and as we have seen Cotto doesn't have the footwork or
stamina to last the distance and he won't knock Tony out.

Cotto also wilted down the stretch in his fight with Clottey, a guy with a
low offensive output and was lucky to get that decision, he also wilted
    against Pacquiao, and was stopped.

Pac beat Margarito because of great movement and stamina, Cotto doesn't have the tools needed to beat marg, he can't stop him, he
will get broken down and expect to see his confidence go early.

This is a useless fight that will produce the same outcome, a late stoppage for Margarito.

And why does Marg even get an immediate title shot after being murdered
by Mosely, winning against an unknown, unranked fighter and then being destroyed by Pac, it's all bull****.

Look for Antonio to end Miguel's career if this fight happens, lets see Berto vs Cotto or Alvarez vs Cotto next year, theres no way he beats Marg.

You must fall into the 5% of people who think Margarito attempted to use plaster for the first and only time...

Margarito is a mediocre fighter when he doesn't have extra "help".

  4. Antonio Margarito is quite possibly the bravest soul in boxing... there isn't a single ounce of quit in him. When Pac landed that beautiful right hook that stopped Margarito dead in his tracks in the 10th, the fight was OVER. His punches had no more snap or power. Yet he continued to relentlessly pursue Pac and that determination (misplaced as it was) signaled to the ref that the fight shouldn't be stopped. Luckily for Margarito, Pac didn't press the KO and punched just to protect himself and keep Margarito at bay.

If there is one fighter who would unquestionably die in the ring before quitting, it's Margarito.

    Respect to the man.

I don't care what ANYBODY says plaster or no plaster. Cotto could've had a loaded gun, a knife and a ****in' rocket launcher! He can't hurt Tony. I actually became a Miguel Cotto fan the first night he lost. Before he fought Tony, I always felt like Cotto was such a hype job. He almost got ktfo by Corley, and they stopped that fight in Cotto's favor on some bs. Zab got his balls beat in when he had Cotto hurt with an uppercut. And to this day I have NEVER seen the Mosley Cotto fight in its entirety ( my copy of it is pretty shitty quality).

But when he fought Antonio Margarito I was impressed at how Cotto went from stalker to boxer. And he hit Tony with shots that would've knocked ANYONE out! AND-HE-JUST-KEPT-COMING-AND-COMING-AND-COMING! Like Jason or Michael Myers or something. If he had plaster that night, that **** was in his face!

Exactly, plaster or no plaster Cotto couldn't hurt Tony and was broken down, he gets stopped again in my opinion.

Good post man... I love Cotto but you hit the nail on the head. Cotto seems to be a front runner. I think it comes down to stamina as much as it does to his durability. The sad thing is, skill wise, I think Cotto is a much better fighter than Margarito... just can't take the punishment Margarito can and after 7 rounds he's pretty much gased. Maybe Manny Steward can guide him to a decision win over Margarito but I think the outcome will be the same as the first fight with Cotto getting stopped late again.

Plaster didn't help Margarito take Cottos best punches, nor did it help Margarito walk Cotto down sapping his stamina and breaking his will and making him quit, assuming Marg did use plaster isn't going to help Cotto in a rematch.

  12. I would LOVE to see Cotto-Margarito II. The bout should be called:

Yes definitely, Cotto does have a superior skill set, but just as you said he can't absorb that type of prolonged punishment like Marg, once Marg starts to walk thru Cottos firepower Miguel will have flashbacks and lose his confidence ultimately getting stopped again.
