I'm sure you would as well as others who like Cotto, i'm a Cotto fan and i'm not a fan of Marg but i just call it like i see it.
Cotto does have a chance to win, Margarito has undergone some serious damage in his last two losses. Cotto just needs to make one adjustment and thats to not allow Margarito to dictate the pace of the fight, in their last fight Cotto simply used his legs too much he was on that bike all night and with a high paced fight like that using your legs throwing that many shots and having that much pressure and that many shots thrown back on you something is going to give sooner or later. look at the Mosley and Pacquiao fights against Margarito they did not use their legs as much as cotto did, they used their legs just enough to make Margarito re set, basicly not allowing him to set and as they turned him they cracked him over and over and over, this is all Cotto needs to do to pull it off that is assuming he can get past the first beat down he suffered becuase Mentally that is going to be a big factor. and BTW I am in the minority in saying that Margarito did not have loaded wraps in that fight. Nevada supplies all of the gauze and tape and does a far better job than any other commission we currently have regarding inspections
I could see Cotto getting really hurt this fight ,hell he had Pac hurt the 7th round and Cotto not once had Pac hurt ,but the catchweight had something to do with that.Still a dangerous fight for him,Mentally and Physically.
Why couldn't Cotto lay the first blueprint, he had the initial opportunity, Cotto will never be as fast as Pac or have his angles and footwork or stamina and he won't all of a sudden be as physically strong as Shane or hit as hard as Shane, or have the confidence to brawl with Marg like Shane for that matter, especially being KTFO in the first fight. I'm sure Cintron thought he had it figured out in the rematch, we see how that went, Cotto had better think of his own plan because he doesn't have the tools to use Pac's or Shanes strategy.
You're right.. people always made excuses when Cotto was getting stunned and hurt at 140 and said it was the weight that took away from his punch resistance... but truth be told, Cotto just doesn't have a great chin, he cuts very easily these days, his stamina is not very good...and as you said, from a confidence stand point I think he'll have demons of their first fight in the later rounds when he faces Margarito again. I'd like to see Cotto fight Cintron, Berto or Martirosyan because I believe he can beat those guys... but Margarito, Martinez, Williams, Alvarez, Angulo and especially Kirkland I think would all give him a beating at this point in his career.
You also have to consider that Cotto was also severly beaten and stopped in two of his last five fights, he also took a good beating against Clottey, oh and Pac used his legs alot aswell the only difference is Pac has the stamina to do so, once Cotto feels the heat he retreats, i.e. Mosley, Margarito, Clottey and Pacquiao, not a good sign.
Come on man, you can't ignore the fact that Marg got caught trying cheating in the Mosley fight. Where theres smoke, theres fire. I believe he cheated in the Cotto fight. My argument is based on that. He has to prove the world wrong. **** the dumb ****.
I am ashamed sometimes of my fellow Ricans who still cry foul, the fight was conducted in a legit fashion, but they seem to still be in denial about the whole thing. Cotto is beatable very beatable, Torres showed you, Corley showed you and Judah showed you even the aged Mosley showed you that Cotto was ripe for the pickings. Margarito just happend to have the right style and size to get the job done. Manny showed you another way to beat Miguel, bottom line I do want to see this fight again who wouldnt their first fight was one of the best fights I have seen in a very long time. I just get sick of the homos here crying foul its a shame, To my fellow Ricans here crying foul stop plucking your ****ing eye brows and maybe you wont see the world through the eyes of a *****.....
Theres four sides to the plaster arguement, people who think he cheated prior to the Shane fight, people who think he didn't, people that are unsure and people that don't care, i happen to be the one who doesn't think he cheated prior to Shane there's no proof he did, Cotto's people are responsible for checking the wraps, Wether they did or did not i don't know but plaster or no plaster doesn't make up for the fact that Cotto didn't dent Marg and also ran out of gas in the later rounds, because of the pressure, by your logic you should also think Marg loaded for his fight with P. Williams, if Williams could sustain that, survive and win Cotto should have found a way.
