this was the most wanted fight at 147 at the time, when mayorga was the reigning linear champion(ring, wbc, wba)&margarito was the wbo champion,if this fight had happened after tony's ko win over andrew lewis who would of won?remember this was around the time tony's team had the wanted posters&t-shirts of mayorga made.:good

Margarito by TKO. Mayorga would be doing his usual crap during training, and is vulnerable to the body attack. Margarito would come out with the same contant aggression he always does, work the body, and Mayorga would eventually break under it.

Mayorga in a very competitive UD.

Back then Mayorga still had the fire to fight, he wasnt yet a millionaire and he still fought with a purpose.

Plus Margo would be fighting a guy who is just as big as him and probably stronger, also i would give the punching power edge to Mayorga as well and he had the stamina at 147 to go 12 hard rounds.

But Mayo is no where near the counter puncher and skilled boxer Cotto is.

I think a lot of his wild swings would hit air, glove or forearm even against Marga.

I think this would be almost a Gatti-Ward type fight, two guys with limited skills but with styles that make for a perfect brawl.

Hard to split em but I would say that Margarito grinds is out towards a late stoppage or decision. I dont think he dominates, a decent allocation of early rounds would go to Mayorga.

One of the fights I would have paid to see. What a damn war it would have been.

I gotta lean towards Margarito though. Mayorga was tough as nails but he never protected his body well and he didn't protect his head either. Margarito by just being a bit sharper and more active.

Mayorga ain't knocking Margarito out either. You can drop that one off at the "full of ****" box.
