Absolutely there are levels, but its to every phase of the game not just pure boxing skill.
There are levels to stamina, workrate, punching power and punch resistance. Those variables play into a boxing match, not just pure boxing skill.

I don't see why people make this comparison, Maidana has a tougher resume top to bottom than Margarito and arguably has only loss "LEGITIMATELY" twice.
Castillo is considered the best LW of an era, none of those things apply to Margarito who outside of cheating Cotto got whopped by every semi decent fighter he fought

No one believed Floyd was really going to KO anyone.. Do play yourself.. Also, Floyd also said he'll fight in the pocket way before the fight.. Who knew Maidana was going to fight as dirty as he did.. Floyd lost a few rounds and everyone went crazy.. Not even mentioning Floyd wad what 36 or 37.. He would have fought Margarito when he was in his 20s.. Even Arum said they wad going to fight.. Floyd paid him to say that huh?

    Again, you're missing the point.
Floyd had enough pop in his punch to make most fighters not want to taste a clean punch from him. That is why most fighters who faced Mayweather slowed their workrate from what they normally would exhert. They didn't want to get hit by that clean shot by Mayweather.

As we all know, that would not be a problem with Margarito as throughout his whole career he's been willing to take the shots of bigger punchers than Floyd.

I dont see Mayweather's punches deterring Margarito from a high paced consistent attack round after round.

I think against Margarito Mayweather would have to up his workrate more than he likes. He'd have to do it to keep Margarito honest.

Would that higher workrate tire Mayweather down the stretch is a big question mark to me.
As I've already noted, Mayweather likes to set his own pace and work off his own tempo.
How would he do when the pace and tempo is not to his liking, because I have no doubt in my mind that the pace and tempo of a fight between Margarito and Mayweather would be set by Margarito, not by Mayweather.
How will Mayweather's stamina respond to that is a big question mark for me.

Margarito a classic example of a fighter who has built a post-career reputation out of not fighting anyone - particularly from not being bested by Mayweather. People make out that he was some majorly-ducked warrior who was dominating the WW division. Truth is he's a guy with only 5 elite fights against 4 top level opponents and he lost 4 (80%) of them (and arguably cheated in the other).

Mayweather would slip & elbow-block 90% of what Margarito threw, and the remaining 10% would be neither flush nor in all likelihood particularly torqued shots (as you say, Margarito just cares about spraying and making some contact with some part of the body and doesn't start to sit down on punches until he sees a crack in the opponents' armor from that cumulative effect... a cumulative effect he would never get the chance to see bear fruition with Mayweather, given his defense and how comfortable he is under pressure from come-forward maulers)

on May 1 2015 I said that if the Pac-Floyd fight was a fair fight with no shennanikins I would congratulate the winner & call him the better man.
Sadly that didn't happen as we all know. Manny was sabotaged & Floyd was allowed to blatantly cheat almost certainly juiced to the gills too. The slimey little cowardly Ped's cheat didnt have the cojones. One May 2 Pac showed who had the cojones to go 12 rounds in pain

I find it weird that you're such a Margarito guy, divac, considering your favorite boxer is Márquez. :think

They couldn't be any more different. One does everything correct and is virtually a walking textbook on technical prowess, and the other is...well...Margarito.

The people who are actualluy arguing on behalf of Maragrito are demonstrating an embarrassing and painful ignorance of any boxing knowledge whatsoever.
