Mayweather may very well have beaten the prime version of Margarito he ducked, Cotto and Mayweather fight differently. Cotto used alot of lateral movement in trying to box Margarito. Margarito though did well though in getting in enough shots when Cotto was throwing his leather.

Imo its easier to cut the ring off and find Mayweather than it is to cut the ring off on a Cotto who's in running mode.

The big reason why I've always given Margarito a great chance to upset Mayweather is that he's not deterred by incoming and more importantly, Margarito does this one thing offensively that most fighters dont do, and that is he punches to land on mass, where most fighters that would have trouble with Mayweather would punch to find his chin or a particular part of his body.
Thats how Rocky Marciano beat down opponents, he used workrate and he just punched to hit mass......arms, elbows, shoulders, hips, you name it.
Defending that with Mayweather's style of defense becomes much more diffiucult when the opponent does'nt much care where it lands as long as its landing on mass.

Big, strong, height, reach, iron chin, workrate beyond those of his weight division, and unbelievable stamina.......those are attributes that Mayweather preffered not to measure himself against, its really not an opinion its a simple fact.

Margarito would have stopped Floyd late, he would have beaten the **** out of Mosley had Mosley not been roided up, a fact people conveniently forget.

This is the type of dumb **** I'm talking about. Arguably the greatest defensive fighter in the history of the sport getting stopped by a limited plodding cheating windmill.

Constant pressure he never gassed and Mayweather's counters wouldn't be as effective as Cotto's and they didn't stop him, Tony would have gotten to him eventually, he'd of walked through every thing Floyd had.
Not a guarantee, but Floyd ducked him for a reason.

Pbf is 37 past his prime was out weighed by damn near 20 pounds fought a dumb fight and got cut for the first time in his career. If pbf didn't get cut he would have won those rounds. Against Margo were talking about a prime pbf not the past prime version of today. Y'all must have forgot how good a prime pbf was.

You're a Juanita/Roidnita, but this is an ace post. There is NOTHING , NOTHING - Floyd can do to discourage Margarito from burying the throttle and coming forward all 12 rounds. Floyd isn't difficult to pin against the ropes and that's where Margarito would have tee'd off. Margarito would have been happy to hit arms, shoulders, chest, absolutely anywhere he could land.

Margarito by decision and Floyd takes a life changing beating.

Margo is a disgraced cheat who had to load his gloves just to be average. The very fact that he never had a win of note after he got busted should tell you everything you need to know about him.:deal his whole career is a farce. Margo was never that good quit hyping up this limited cheating plodder just to spite pbf.

People like you don't know **** about the sport. It's not that easy. What did pbf have to stop oscar from coming forward? What about baldo? What about canelo? What did pea Whitaker have to stop Chavez sr from coming forward? Power is overrated but skills aren't.:deal

Lol you think Maidana has a size advantage over PBF but Margarito wouldn't have had? Margarito would have outweighed him by nearly the same amount, except he carries that weight much better than Maidana as he is naturally the much larger man. You forget how Margarito broke Cotto down? Maidana couldn't dream of doing that Cotto.

Also PBF prime was 135lbs where he actually had power, his fight with margarito would have been 147 and there's not much difference between the PBF who fought Oscar at 147 to Floyd of today.
