If it was an easy fight, Floyd would have snatched that W, but Margo didn't fit the profile of the opponents Mayweather selected for the later stage of his career.

    I agree.

It'd have been foolish to fight Marg.

Floyd's a shrewd businessman. But these fans on here need a reality check. They can't appreciate that styles make fights. His fights with Maidana give you an insight of the troubles that Marg would have brought.

He was 36 when he fought Maidana he wasn't prime, not only that Margo fights nothing like Maidana. When are people going to realize that Maidana didn't face a prime PBF and stop thinking Maidana and Margo fight a like?:deal PBF is the only fighter to be prime his whole career his haters claim.

Better options and more money than what Margo brought.:deal I love how you leave that out to help promote your ridiculous and flawed agenda.

They don't fight exactly alike, but they have a lot of similarities.

Both are pressure fighters, who hit anything without having a care in the world if they take shots back in the process.

Marg was bigger and stronger than Floyd, and he wouldn't have given him an ounce of respect. He'd have just poured forward at every opportunity.

Yes, Floyd wasn't prime against Maidana, but the was still an elite fighter.

What are you saying, that an earlier WW version of Floyd would have beaten him with consummate ease?

I'm not buying that at all.

It's easy to say that, but Floyd walked away from a huge rematch with Oscar to spend time with his family, before then returning to fight Hatton shortly afterwards.

So there's no evidence to suggest that Floyd would ever have fought Marg, however substantial the payday may have been.

No they don't they fight nothing a like. I can tell you don't know much about the sport by saying that. Maidana has a jab he used feints has better defense is faster has more power throws a looping over hand right that is very effective against the shoulder roll throws punches from awkward angles fights dirty on the inside roughing up using his strength. Margo doesn't have a jab he comes forward giving up his height eating shots trying to land shots and wear you down with workrate and stamina the two couldn't be more different.:deal

Yes a younger prime version of PBF would have beaten Maidana easier I say the version of PBF who beat JMM would probably only lose 2 rounds to Maidana at worst as that IMO was his last prime fight.

He walked away because Oscar still wanted the bigger share. I don't blame him Oscar does worse in rematches anyway while PBF does better. PBF beats any version of Oscar and will forever own his golden ass between the ropes better more complete fighter.

    Lastly there is evidence :dealhttp://espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=2420382

Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.

Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.

"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."

Margarito's trouble with Jorge Paez this weekend gives you an insight to the troubles that Marg would ahve had with Floyd.

This is the damning truth that they idiot haters keep closing their eyes too. Floyd had no problem fighting Margarito, but the fight came as a condition to him staying with Top Rank while his promoter tells him "not gonna happen" to the biggest fight in the history of the sport at the time. Mayweather wisely bought out his contract and went on to fight DLH for his largest purse ever at the time, broke the PPV record and became a star. He also got substantially more money for Cotto and Hatton then what Arum was offering.
