Antonio Margarito....

To be honest he is not being highly regarded. in fact there are a lot more of haters here than followers but he'll give anybody a very stiff competiton and a run for their money in this division.

 

Overrated as ****, it makes me laugh everyone lining him up for a fight with Cotto...Cotto would knock his head off, he has a little skills but decent power.

Let's put it this way, Mayweather, De La Hoya, Mosley, Cotto, Vargas, Mayorga and even little Ricky Hatton would outbox him to victory.

 

He hasn't fought anyone half decent, the guy's whole career is a complete myth. Show me a KO of a Tszyu, Castillo, type figure and I'm inclined to agree - he's the new poster boy of Mexico with a decent Ko record, that's all.

All this talk of Cotto will result in a third round KO and probably a month in hospital.

Good, not great. I would say a B+ level.

 

I need to see him more against top tier Welterweights to really make an assesment.

he looks good against Cintron, then bad against Clottey.

Looks bad vs. Santos for the first half of the fight then looks better in the second.

blows out bums but then gets out worked against PW.

Cast iron chin but seen him get dropped to the body.

inconsistent is the best way to describe him imo.

So -Siege-, are you saying he's got such a crap record because he's so hard no-one will fight him? Tszyu had title fights, title defences, as does Hatton and Cotto at various weights, are oyu telling me a prospective welterweight belt holder would rather defend it to Cotto than Margarito?

 

The best of the non Elite in that divison. if he moved down to 140 he beats everyone but Paulie.

Too true, did you see the size of him compared to Cotto or Mosley.

He looked pretty sharp with his punches, and always looks very fit and focused, he is pretty hittable, but he has a good chin atm.

Id like to see him in another fight before a world title shot, but i dont see many welters wanting to fight such a big guy.

He looks great knocking out bums. But so does Zab Judah. He has lost the times he has stepped up his competition like against Williams and Santos. He needs more big names on his resume. He should have taken the Cotto fight last June.
