tell me what the right test is for detecting plaster of paris. The Bureau of Forensic Services at the California Department of Justice seemed to think it was X-Ray Fluorescence.

perhaps they should have consulted you first?

And just to make it clear, I have no issue with anyone who believes he didn't load against Cotto, or even that Margarito didn't know what was in his gloves in the Mosley fight.

Those are beliefs, and people can choose what to believe.

But we KNOW what was in his gloves that night. The lab confirms it, the inspectors confirm it.

your source is James Slater of EastSideBoxing, not the actual report?

Marc Hauser quotes the report in his article:

“Calcium and sulpher, two elements found in plaster of Paris, were found on the submitted gauze pad using an X-ray fluorescence [XRF] spectrometer. The elements calcium, sulpher, and oxygen are found in plaster of Paris. These three elements are also found in substances other than plaster. Oxygen is not detectable by XRF.”

Speaking of, you do know the inspector signed off on one wrap Richardson admits it, they admit it, why wasnt he fired? seriously thats his ****ing job if he had plaster why is he still working?

and 2nd, the lab confirms trace elements found, no brick at all and one of you doubters are going to have to explain how that is supposed to help him in a fight when he is using 10 yards of gauze on each hand and he has an 8 ounce glove on.....

    :deal
    TRACE ELEMENT

: a chemical element present in minute quantities; especially : one used by organisms and held essential to their physiology

give it up, the report never uses the word "trace", James Slater a blogger for ESB used that word.

So you are telling me there are no tests to find Calcium Sulfate? This isn't to mention wouldn't the wraps have been ROCK HARD after the PoP set?

Umm no, last time I checked they refused a second examination, and the DA refused to press charges... supposedly they can prove his wraps were loaded, but don't bother with a criminal case? BECAUSE THE EVIDENCE WAS NOT THERE

You have no proof of a substantial quantity of anything either. Check out the video posted on here a couple pages in called "HBO proves Margarito's hand wraps weren't loaded" or something along those lines, there are pictures of the wrap under a microscope, no plaster of paris.

Your article is by another columnist, no better. I happened to have had that link open because I was reading it before posting this in another tab, I didn't bother to google around, you can do that.

    See above.

My source is Marc Hauser quoting verbatim the original source of the report for the Bureau of Forensic Services.

    give it up.

having been a certified XRF operator at one time, this quote sums it up. it will detect the elements of sulfur and calcium, but cannot determine alone if it was plaster or paris, gypsum...etc. it is an analytical tool used for screening and developing educated assumptions in this case. forensics relies heavily on this principle.
