His P4P status shouldn't be affected by his height, it is the weight division you fight in. Everyone has the opportunity to make the weight limit.

It's pound for pound not pound per foot.

His size is the only reason he beat Cotto.

This makes no sense. Every fighter relies on the advantage they posses. SHuyold Floyd be docked because he was FASTER then everyone else? Whether it's a huge advantage is irrelevant. Want to dock a guy who's more powerful as well?

Does Hearn's height go against him as well?

His punching and chin amd overall toughness had nothing to do with it? Size doesn't guarnatee wins. If that was true, Kingley Ikeke would be undefeated still. Chico as well in his lighter days.

AM has made his bones on beating smaller men, but he did beat a couple of no name ww's...(6 heads) Clottey and Cintron who were full fledged WW's. Cotto was probably small for the division reach and height wise(ww), but weight wise, he is a big ww. Hatton wasn't really a ww, and Floyd isn't either. Floyd is better than both Cotto and Hatton in proving that he can beat men who are bigger than him. AM struggled against Clottey who had faster hands and good defense, and he struggled against a fighter(Williams) who just as many punches, if not more punches than him. That is not a size thing. These are just different ways to attack AM. Santos countered AM and used defense as he came in.

Just because a fighter may be taller doesn't make him bigger. This is why they have weight classes instead of height classes.

Margarito doesn't even box tall or use his height to his advantage. He gives it up and presses to the inside.

P4P rankings should be based on who's getting the job done at the end of the day against the best competition, not the aesthetics of who looks better when they throw or dodge a punch.

Somebody call Thomas Hearns and tell him his HOF and ATG status have been revoked due to his size!

So if Margarito was the same size as Cotto the fight would have gone the same way? :nono

Is that out of the question to you? Margarito fights up close. His being tall didn't win it for him.

The fight wouldn't have happened because if Cotto and Margarito were the same height then Margarito would have been fighting at 140. A bit of simple maths for you:

Cotto's height: 71in
Margarito's height: 75in

Marg at weigh-in: 147lbs

If Marg was 71in tall, then his weight decreases proportionally as follows:

147* (71/75) = 139.16lbs

So P4P, a Marg the same height as Cotto would fight comfortably in the weight class below. Cotto had problems making 140 if you remember?

AM will always be a problem for Cotto even if he were the same size(I can't believe I'm even answering this) because he can throw with his left and right. Cotto fights smart because he has to...he has no right hand.

Dude, Gatti was not fighting Margarito. You can't get away with something like that with every fighter.

I'm not a fan of Margarito, but if he weighs in at 147 for a fight. That's considered a WW in my eyes. NO EXCUSES

Pound for Pound is for the resume and the greatness, like somebody said you can be p4p #1 without fighting in 10 divisions, if you dominate your divison you can be p4p #1 (ex. Marvin Hagler)

you should read this post, it is a clarification on pound for pound and head to head. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=85534&highlight=pound+head
