Ok this is what really makes me mad. A Staples Center record crowd, what had to be a good ratings night for HBO, a raucous excited crowd (at least before the fight), and an aging fighter that still has name/star recognition fighting like he was 10 years younger and pulling off a 4-1 upset over a great warrior. Setting up potential fights such as Margo-Cotto II, Mosley-Cotto II, Mosley-winner of Hatton/Pac, Mosley-Mayweather. For all of us fans who are sick of hearing how boxing is dead this should have been a great night. But no, what is going to come out of tonight? Antonio's "illegal substance" and did he use it during the Cotto fight. If it's true Antonio should be banned from boxing forever.
That one sided ass whipping is punishment enough for Marg. Shane beat Marg like he did Adrian Stone and Shannon Taylor.
It was a good night for me. Thank Sugar Shane for that, boxing is not dead but at least Margarito's hand wraps were exposed rather than being forgotten in a hollow victory.
One way or another it was a good win. LA is also SSM's hometown, so its not like the local fans were let down. I'm in the LA county, trust me, as long as the ppl here have a good team/athlete thats one of the best, they will support them.
Oh I agree, I loved the outcome, more often than not i'm cheering for the American fighter. I just think those who say boxing is dead will point to the wraps and ignore the sellout crowd etc..
