If you didn't catch the Woods fight, he looked incredible. He looked just like the guy who had fought RJJ. His hand speed seems to have improved and right now, it's not that far behind Dawson's. Yeah, laugh if you want but go back and watch the tapes. Besides, Tarver throws punches sort of awkwardly so it is a bit misleading. But he put together some great combinations against Woods. Look at Woods' face!

If Dawson has the balls to get in the ring with Tarver, it's over for Dawson. Tarver has very good power with his straight left, moreso than Johnson. And Dawson won't be able to recover because Tarver is a better finisher and more accurate with his power shots. Dawson will eventually get caught.

Whoa...why is your last post edited by MR KOOL.

Yes but Antonio Traver looked alright, but he did look incredibly fatigued at times. But his boxing skills, made things easier....

He looked better than I expected but mainly because Woods looked 100 times worse.

He put Tarver under no pressure whatsoever and let him fight his fight.
Props to Antonio to sticking to plan and showing some great skills but physically he looks no better, no quicker.

Woods didn't really push him all that hard though

That said , fair play to Tarver he did look good, seems he is a bit of an American Danny Williams ( excpet Tarver has achieved more obv. ) in that you never know which Tarver is going to show up and that his own ( I dont like using this word but it will have to do ) laziness is his biggest problem.

As much as I hate Tarver I really think he'll do a number on Chad Dawson.

I beg to differ. I have watched every Tarver fight since his first fight with RJJ. Tarver has lacked motivation in his prior few fights and he even admitted it. But he came in focused for this one and the results showed. He's noticeably quicker with his hands and his feet. He looks re-newed.

And for the people saying that Woods didn't fight his fight, did it ever occur to you that Tarver did this? Just the way some people were saying how Tarver didn't fight his fight against Hopkins. Well, Hopkins did it.

I do think that Woods came in a bit timid for some reason. Maybe some of the trash talking stuck in his head.

Tarver is really very skilled and can nullify/stifle brilliantly, but his stamina is awful. In a fast-paced fight he'd wilt. BADLY.

agreed. He had stamina problems right after the 3rd jones fight with glen johnson. It looked like he was going to pass out in the later rounds in those fights.

Seeing as nobody, but NOBODY hyped Woods to be a brilliant fighter, what I'd like to know is what the hell your definition of a hype-job is?

Well, i don't have the punch stats for this fight but i can tell you that Tarver was a lot busier than he was in his previous 3 fights against Hopkins, Muiqi, and Santiago.

And if he fights Dawson, it won't go 12. It might even end very early. Just depends when Tarver connects flush with that left and it's over from then on. Tarver is a very good finisher. Tarver has more power, is more accurate, and has faster hands than GJ. Not to mention, he's just a better boxer overall.

I will certainly admit he was more mobile and seemed to be fit enough to remain that mobile throughout the fight.

Maybe motivation was the issue, time will tell.

I did say in the another thread that if Tarver is winning, he is making you look ****. He is making you pay for missing and gets you thinking twice about overcommiting a punch. I think that prevented Clinton from doing anything, especially with his jab which is his main weapon.
I just cant for the life of me see why he didnt really lift the pace ever, or go for broke later on. He is the kind of fighter who would do that but the other night he didnt for some reason.

ha ha ha ha man you have some serious anger issues !

Tarver loses to Hopkins and its ok he lost to an ATG

Hatton loses to Mayweather ( more of an ATG surely ) and he is a UK hype job.

Woods (who came in with almost no fanfare or Hype) loses to a pretty good version of Tarver and he is a UK Hype job.

Through our other exchanges you seem like a smart enough, reasonable guy so what is it about British fighters that f**ks you off so much ? Do you hate all fighters that arent American or is it peculiar to the UK

    Im just intrigued !

What a lame excuse. So whose fault was it that Woods looked like an amatuer? I think it was mostly due to Tarver's combination of in ring skills and his trash tralking leading up the fight which might've played with Woods' mind. Your job as a fighter is to be ready both mentally and physically. I don't think Woods was ready mentally. I

Based on recent outings, a lot of people were picking Woods to win, including myself, and i'm a Milkdud fan.
