I know rite, how could Roy get K.Oed! hard to believe when he was the top dogg. Well nothing last forever, there is always, I mean always someone out there that will beat you.
tarver was his kryptonite, got to admit. even 5 years previously it would have been the toughest fight likely in roys entire light heavy reign
Great punch. Way better then what Johnson landed, i don't know how Jones was out for like half an hour after Johnson hit him with that shitty punch.
The funny think about the KO punch was that Roy had just hit Tarver with a very good right hand right before Tarver threw that punch and I think Tarver was hurt. I think he threw that left hand that KOd Roy on instinct. But as we know a fighter is dangerous when he is hurt.
You know i'm usually one to give fighters a fair good chance against Jones, but if it was around 97,98 I honestly wouldn't think Tarver would last the distance with that version of Jones. I think a 97,98 Jones would TKO an 04 Tarver.
i wanna agree but tarver was DETERMINED to beat roy. he was still in the AMs when roy was hitting his stride and becoming the best fighter on the planet. he studied the **** out of him and if the 2003 version of tarver fought the first griffin roy, i think it'd be a fight. tarver bled and sweat to beat one man: roy jones. that kind of attitude makes him dangerous on any night
He was way out of his element though, I remember Roy showboating every round, instead of fighting like he should have. Kind of embarrasing to watch.
for sure...not sure i agree entirely with the vid but i really enjoyed this [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-sslx38T7c[/ame]
"severely weight drained Roy" Complete bull**** that boxing fans completely ate up, hook line and sinker.
Tarver a funny dude. It was the most pimpest thing he ever did and them KO'd him. But Tarver was completely obsessed with RJJ and still mentions him, like he did when Ward was fighting Kessler. RJJ will always be greater than Tarver, Roy is a all-time-great, but Tarver will always be the one who ended his career.
