What are you guys talking about? Tarver was simply a one hit wonder who just happened to beat Jones at the end of his career... He didn't even manage to win vs Jones the 1st time, even if Jones was coming down from Heavyweight, had to lose like 25 pounds of muscle, and looked far worst than he ever did...

Tarver was a nobody who just happened to beat Roy. That was like his one moment, that and his appearance in a Rocky, which he was pretty pathetic in... Legend killer? Please... It's liek when Camacho beat Sugar Ray Leonard, is Camacho a legend killer to? He ain't no Douglas or even Corrie Sanders... Who both defeated huge fighters who were at their prime...

And about the comments: I thought it was somewhat sad... Just the fact that RJJ won the 1st fight, and was past his prime (we know now) his career was going downhill really fast.

The fight was happening as the same time as the Lakers/Spurs Game 6 playoff game in 2004. We had 2 televisions set up to watch both sporting events. Well RJ gets knocked out during halftime of the game. And all you hear is Charles Barkley on TNT, "OH MY GOD! Roy Jones was just knocked out. Looks like he is going fishing also"

    'I gotta question...'

As great a boxer as Jones was, he did make some lame excuses in his time.

Didn't he say he lost the 3rd fight against Tarver because he didn't want his dad to get all the credit?

It's a shame that a lot of fighters use a lot of lame excuses these days.

I thought my life was over when Roy was put out, and at the time I hated it.

But you have to give it to Tarver. That will go down in history as one of the baddest lines ever.

Man i was happy as **** when Tarver not only said that (one of the best things ever said in a boxing ring) then went on to knock roy the **** out. Great night of boxing for me

That **** still haunts me.. If Jones pulled that thru and retired thereafter, he might have been easily top 10 ATG.
