Tarver does not have the attitude of a fighter imo, thats why he lost to Jones when the fight was on table to win, also why, IMO, he has lost fight certain fights and needed rematches to rectify the situation, now where i believe this plays in, is that Tarver is older now, his reflexes wont be as good as they once were, so he might have to adopt the approach where he is more aggressive, as though to get off first so he can negate the fact his reflexes might not be quick anymore to sit back and counter, only as I say, Tarver does not fight with enough passion when he tries to fight that way, thats why I dont see him making any noise.

I didn't think he was serious...he may pick up 1 or 2 victories over not so great opposition. That's about it.

I think some people only think he beat Jones because he was more competitive with Jones, than anybody else had ever been, it was as much out of appreciation that he was able to make it competitive, as to why people were giving him more credit than his performance deserved, however strictly speaking, I thought the fight was on the table in the last few rounds, and he did not take the opportunity, there were also rounds in the middle portion of the fight where he did not do a lot.

I would have to score it again, but i felt Jones edged it personally, certainly not a bad decision, even if Tarver won, it was marginal.

it was close.....thought roy layed on the ropes and took more than he gave....he looked swelled and tired and beaten after 12 rounds, tarver looked fresh and unmarked

We may be seeing an opposite version of Chris Byrd vs. Shaun George here.

I'm looking forward to it and why not? There's not much to look forward to in the HW division anyway.

I stand corrected. Don't know what I was looking at..

" He fought Nagy Aguilera on December 11 in Sacramento, California at the Memorial Auditorium in a tune up fight for his eliminator with Nagy Aguilera, but was shockingly knocked out in the first round. Getting stunned with a overhand right-left hook combo and knocked down soon after, another barrage by Aquilera hit maskaev hard knocking him out. Maskaev did not land a punch in the fight, and has since stated that he may retire following the loss."

yeah I remember seeing that vid after the fight happened. maskaev looked like a dead man walking. hard to gauge aguillera too much off that fight cuz oleg looked that bad, but it's more than possible that he could derail tarver's idiotic plan to move up to hw at age 40

tarver was a decent light heavy in his prime. he's not in his prime and he's not at light heavy. he's be an old, past it and TINY heavyweight. the only physical advantages he'd hold over heavies (speed, mobility, etc) are gone. essentially, he's a smaller target for them to beat on with absolutely no fear of counter attack. his power at 175 at this stage is pretty sad, his power at heavy will be non-existent. i hate tarver but i don't want to see him hurt. he's gonna get put down and hard
