You might be right about no 175 pounder knocking out Tarver, but quite frankly, his resume isn't anything special.

He’s being matched here against Marvin Johnson, not Michael Spinks.

Doesn't change the fact that his resume isn't anything special

Johnson was stopped by Spinks, Saad and Eddie Mustafa Muhammad: 3 guys I would bet the house against Tarver. He was also stopped by Leslie Stewart in his last fight when he was done.

Tarver won sometimes at the top level. He beat Roy. None of us would predict that, but it happened.

Tarver might go 1-1 against Mustafa and Saad. Who’s to say? The fights never happened and they weren’t unbeatable. Tarver beat Roy.

What wouldn’t happen is Tarver getting stopped three times against Spinks, Saad, and Mustafa.

And Tarver had a better career than Marvin.

Tarver beat a shot Roy. That was proven again when Roy was blasted out by featherfisted Glen Johnson. That's his best victory? Tarver beat nobody anywhere near the level of Spinks, Saad and Mustafa. The possibility exists he would have gotten stopped by each of those 3.

That’s not how it works. Roy looked excellent until Tarver sparked him.

Would you say Tarver beat a shot Chris Johnson? (Highly regarded am, career over after after Tarver caught him.)

Did he beat a shot Eric Harding? (Top 5 light heavy turned fringe guy who lost to Glen Johnson after Tarver beat the crap out of him.)

And after fighting Tarver, Roy was knocked the **** out by Glen Johnson. He was done, end of. I have to be honest with you. I wouldn't even mention Chris Johnson and Eric Harding in the same breath as Saad, Spinks and EMM. Frankly you did nothing to bolster your argument by mentioning them. I am of the camp that Tarver is vastly overrated, not Johnson. You and I will just have to agree to disagree

Boxing is full of guys who never recover after getting knocked out. I’m not gonna explain that to you anymore because it’s Boxing 101. You can watch the first 5 minutes and tell me how Roy looked. Or you can not watch it and keep your ego intact.

I’ll remind you that Tarver was 38 already by the time he fought Hopkins, pushing 40 when he fought Dawson, and middle aged when he drew with Steve Cunningham.

Tarver was a multi 175 champ, pfp fighter, and one of the best American ams of all time. Marvin Johnson was not.

So you're saying that Roy wasn't shot when Tarver AND Glen Johnson knocked him into Oblivion? That's not my ego talking. Those are the simple facts. So were Tarver and Johnson better lightheavies than Roy because they both knocked him the **** out?

Tarver fought in a week era of 175 pounders. You claim Chris Johnson was highly rated? He had already been stopped by Graham at 168. Eric Harding? Please. Clinton Woods? As I wrote previously, Tarver's resume was nothing special. And so what he was a great amateur. Randy Shields beat Sugar Ray Leonard in the ams. Means nothing in the pros. Btw I never mentioned Dawson and Cunningham. I have no idea why you brought them up.

What you're attempting to do is pathetic. If you don't know that Eric Harding was good at one time, you don't know anything about him. Chris Johnson was a highly rated am whose career ended at Tarver's left hand before anything could happen with his pro career. There's also Glen Johnson at his peak, Reggie Johnson (faded but still good), Griffin (faded but still good), Danny Green and Roy twice, once as the pfp best and the other time faded but still competent.

It's better than what Marvin has.

Reggie Johnson was a good fighter but not only was he past his best, but his best weight was 160. Glencoffe had how many losses when he fought Tarver? And he also beat Tarver as well which you failed to mention. Good but nothing special. Griffen, whom a better version than the one Tarver beat by decision was blasted out by Jones and Darius? Danny Green? Jesus Christ. Dunno why you keep mentioning Graham ko victim at 168 Johnson lol. That's laughable. Again, Eric Harding. I never wrote he wasn't any good oh pathetic one. Never. I have no idea where you got that one from. However you also failed to mention he had previously beaten Tarver as well. Selective posting of facts I noticed you like to do.

I see you still haven't answered the question so I'm going to dumb it down just for you. Was Tarver a better lightheavy than Roy Jones, oh butthurt one?
