http://twitter.com/danrafaelespn Per the Respected Columnist Dan Rafael, just looking for a location. Well Sam Peter was able to secure a title shot by beating Aguilera so let's see what happens after the Magic Man opens up a can on Nagy. Bring on Wlad. :bbb
I haven't seen a lot of Aguillera but from what I've seen I think Tarver will beat him. Obviously Tarver isn't going to beat a Klitschko or Haye, Povetkin, or some of the top guys in the division. But, if matched properly he might be able to make some noise at heavyweight. He has more skill and experience than almost anyone in the division. His age and size is whats going to hurt him but after he beats Aguillera I could see him getting a big fight in 2011 simply off of his name. I see Holyfield-Tarver happening soon.
Christina fought an over the hill declining Maskaev (got a lucky shot in) and was hyped as the ultimate contender at once before being mega exposed by Peter inside 2 rounds... Christina then lost decision against some D-class opponent... some high hopes you have for him!!
Good. Nagy is as terrible a heavyweight as you can find with a decent-looking record (and he has a fluke KO win over an old Maskaev who shouldn't have even be licensed). Beating Aguilera won't actually mean anything, but it could help Tarver short-cut through the rankings and propel himself toward the payday he's obviously after. Best of luck to him. All Aguilera has is power, and even that isn't spectacular. Tarver should be able to take a shot from him, and if he can't the heavyweight dream is dead.
I don't see Tarver being very successful at heavyweight. Even though he is better than most of them, he is too old and too small to compete. I'm betting he bulks up the "soft way" too. Meaning, it won't be muscle on the scales.
Is Naggy really that bad. I admit all i saw was his early starching of Maskaev (and noticed some other ko wins on his record), so i really don't know. I think he just lost a decision to Mo Harris which isn't that bad assuming Mo is in good form (MO has some good hw wins and is comebacking at age 34 or so). Unless he is actually horrible, I'd imagine naggy's power and youth (he's like 23) will be very dangerous for a moving up way on the slide tarver. i'm surprised tarver didn't look for some older shell of a name like bruce seldon or something
