Antonio Tarver will knock out Calzaghe

I'm sure HBO will still get behind him for the right fight - the fights we all want to see.

Belts are important though. Guys like Miranda and Taylor might be well known stateside, but I doubt HBO would be chomping at the bit to get hold of Bute/Kessler or the WBC titlist (Froch/Pascal?) for example.

Why do people talk about Bute? Would they talk about him if he had a win over Berrio, Bika and Joppy? I doubt it. He holds the belt Joe handed to him, and thus if anybody is going to unify the division they need to go through him so he's a talking point.

So I think this keeps his options very open.

Calzaghe aint fighting Tarver anyway there is nothing in it for him. Same goes for a Dawson fight who is completely unknown to the general public.

The Jones fight will be the last one unless both Joe and Pavlik both win and then the demand and the money for a fight against Uncle Fester could prove too much for Joe to turn down.

you have to remember that kessler, like calzaghe, weren't taken as serious contenders by top fighters because, before they fought each other, they were both known as talented fighters who weren't interested in risking their european base and nestegg.

it was very lucky for both of them that they had each other in the same division and with nowhere to go otherwise.

it might not be right, but a european fighter who isn't willing to promote himself stateside is never going to have the muscle to get big fights.

calzaghe and warren knew this and consciously avoided putting themselves in the mix with jones and hopkins in their prime because they could both become rich back home fighting b-graders with padded records.

kessler is lucky that he has his name known now but HBO wanted the miranda fight and team kessler backed out for a cheap euro option.

that doesn't sell for HBO, doesn't keep fans stateside interested, and cheapens kessler's marketability (imo) if he continues this way.

Well hopefully he won't continue this way. I think Kessler sees the logic in picking up an easy belt, as do I. I don't think he'll settle for any more, he is a guy that genuinely wants the big fights in his interviews unlike Sturm, I don't think there is a real comparison to be made yet.

That Miranda bull**** is annoying. I still havn't seen any solid evidence from a netural source that places the blame entirely with Kessler.

If I remember correctly, Kessler backed out for a title shot against Mundine, but then Mundine crapped his pants and dumped his title.

The title shot was then offered to Miranda, who declined, preferring a beating from Abraham to one from Kessler. Sartison came after that.

team kessler declined to fight miranda.

mogens palle was quoted in the danish press as saying 'miranda was not in kessler's league'.

    annoyed me too.

i've met kessler a few times now and we had a chat about calzaghe before any fight with him was made.

it's not kessler who is being wary, its mogens palle (his promoter).

but it was team kessler who pulled out of a miranda fight 100%.

The timeline was as I posted, as has been well documented.

The Kessler camp pulled out of negotiations with Miranda when Kessler became mandatory for Mundine, and his title.

When Mundine decided to vacate, Miranda was then offered the chance to fight Kessler for the title, but decided to stay with the fight being negotiated against Abraham.

It's incorrect to say that Kessler preferred to fight Sartison rather than Miranda.

On Tarver, OP means the same Tarver who fought 12 rounds against Clinton Woods without putting a dent in him?

The same Tarver who fought 24 rounds against Glen Johnson without putting a dent in him?

Maybe OP could provide some actual evidence to convince that Tarver is somekind of brute who will ko Calzaghe who has never been on the floor for more than two seconds in his career (unlike Johnson and Woods, for example...)

Talk about that when the fight is sure to happen. For now . . . that's waste of time and energy. :D
