Antonio Tarver's future

  1. What's next for this guy? I know he had one fight at heavyweight against Naggy Aguilera and won a decision. I didnt see it. How did Tarver look at heavyweight?
He stated that he wanted to fight the Klitschko brothers.
Are there other fights for him at cruiserweight that may actually happen or what?
I dont see him really doing much good at HW and the division is starting to get better again. Plus,Tarver is still good at cruiserwight anyhow.

Tarver said this about the Klitscho brothers:
"The best way for them to beat me is not to fight me...I can punch hard and punch fast. In combinations. And they ain't used to anybody like that...remember, I don't talk the talk, I walk the walk. And I'll back it up, or die trying."

He has a fight lined up on May 26 against a guy named Kayode at cruiser I think.

his volume of punches was not so high at heavyweight. Aguilera seemed to throw more punches and be more comfortable at the weight naturally.

They both seemed similarly as fat and similar bodyweight. I thought the fight was fairly even. Tarver did not look so great at 221.

it looked like the weight taxed his cardiovascular system not allowing him to throw alot of punches.
I still want him to fight at Heavyweight and have a crack at the big fellas. He might get used to the weight.

I just wish Roy Jones Jnr had stayed at heavyweight after beating Jonny Ruiz.

Roy at 200-220 would of been great to watch. Even if he got sparked out.

175 was too light for roy after he had fought Ruiz.

I must add both Tarver and Roy Jones look fantastic at 200 pounds

    ^This, That's what I heard aswell.
(A wildcard gym fighter trained by Roach, A SHOBox regular... should make a good fight)

  5. Thanks for the input. According to Tarver,he says he would come up to heavyweight in "the right way" this time and be used to the weight.

Tarver, was pretty good but he is too inactive and goes through the motions in fights sometimes.

  8. What? He won the WBA world title!

Despite his age, at CW he could still achieve something if matched against proper opponent (like IMO Wlodarczyk for example).

More probably he will stay at HW where at best he can beat some opponents like Aguilera and with some luck get one more titleshot.

Even his friend and broadcast partner Al Bernstein said it would be a bad idea for him to take a Klitschko fight. He is basically an accident waiting to happen even at cruiserweight.

It depends on Tarvers chin. I've never actually seen him hurt so if he can take the punch then he has very good chances against Wlad.

I don't think he should ever fight Vitali.

Tarver is about as relevant as RJJ and Holyfield.

His chances against Wlad would be marginal anyway. We are talking about the same Tarver who couldn't land anything serious on Dawson, and this was in LHW (and a couple of years ago). Maybe he could still give a good fight against someone like Povetkin.
