Why would Williams do business with someone who spit in his face after he lost to him?, didn't Margarito and his team talk trash as early as the post-fight interview to the press conference all the way till now. They gave Williams zero credit, showed zero respect and expect to get a rematch?, Margarito was down if he wanted it serious enough he would have approached it in better fashion. Williams is asking for a rematch now and offering a career high payday in $4million because this is the best WW fight that could be made right now. Waiting for it was the best move they made and now that Margarito beat Cotto the fight should be way bigger than it was going to be immediately after the first fight. Sadly, Margarito's team have no interest whatsoever and I seriously doubt it's because Williams turned them down once. It's Arum playing it smart, he has someone who can be making him a lot of money, he already fed Margarito to Cotto you think he will throw him in there against Williams for Goosen to feast on so early?, the answer is no and his future plans is the proof. He wants to put him in there against Cotto yet again and walks to make sure he makes enough money out of him. Drowning him so early would be a stupid business move, it's called proper management.
Ok, so your angle is that Margarito disrespected Williams after the first fight, and that justified Paul refusing the rematch???
You won't find a good argument while your heads up your arse. Williams avoided/prolonged an immediate rematch, now Margo is avoiding/prolonging the rematch, both of them did it due to risk/reward (financially) ratios. As at the time, it was **** for Williams, and it could have improved down the track (as it obviously did after Cotto), and now Margo knows that he can cash in for a while and the rematch will become a much bigger fight down the track. "Weak logic" my arse. Try and deny that Margo is now doing what Williams did, use your brain.
As I said in the post above, it's Arum who is in charge here and he recently fed Margarito to a major fighter in his own stable. There's no way in hell he'll feed Margarito to Goossen's fighter so early till he makes sure he makes enough money out of him, they're using the "Step in live" stuff as an excuse basically to keep the public busy into thinking other stuff. Margarito's future plans are the proof he's being planned to fight Cotto in the rematch as Arum is obviously securing the hype surrounding Margarito either for Cotto or still for Margarito. A fight with Williams might never even happen to be honest unless Margarito loses one of his next two fights.
Again, this doesn't work for me. If I slap you first, and then you slap me back, we aren't both guilty of disrespect. I disrespected you, and you defended your honor by hitting me back. C'mon now... That's ****ing common sense.
Williams was asked after the fight if he would give AM a rematch, and on national television, he said of course. When AM was asked would he rematch Williams, he said he didn't know because he thought he won and that the judges, Goosen robbed him. Later he said he would only fight Williams if Arum promoted the fight lol.
It's happened once before..it'll happen again. Part of the problem is it's going to take one of the two sides to bend on the issue and show a little compromise. Which side would give will depend on when the fight happens.
Yes, pretty much the way Brewster refused to give Wladimir an immediate rematch because he got nothing but disrespect from the guy and asked him to work his way up and earn it. Williams has the right to say that to Margarito because he BEAT HIM, Margarito doesn't have the right to say the same like he won that fight as he obviously thinks he does when he gave Williams zero credit after the fight, insulting his promoter in his face and talked trash to the point where Arum had to interfere and say "That's not fair".
You can't just come in here saying that Williams didn't refuse the rematch. Read the posts, son. People on both sides of this debate are well past that. There's no question it happened. Now go back to square one. You're out the game.
