Might not be very soon, already half of next year is already planned out for Margarito. What will Williams do in the mean-time?, guys like Clottey/Mosley/Cintron as possible opponents either for Margarito or Cotto next and they will definitely go after those fights rather than a fight with Williams who will offer little in terms of money and be FAR more dangerous. Unless Williams gets a fight with Berto/Forbes winner then sure he's staying busy and keeping his self at 147. If this takes longer than expected and he has to move on at 154 or 160 then that could be the case. So far there's no interest from Margarito's side and the man won't sit there and "wait" his entire career, every few months count.

I'm sorry, that doesn't quite cut it. What was said, and what happened, are two different things, playboy.

Berto is represented by the same guy Williams is ain't he?

Like I said, I see Williams moving up in weight because all the top welters look to be shackin up so to speak and Williams is going to be out of the mess because his promoter looks to be pretty stale on getting him set up with someone.

One thing that'll be interesting is seeing the economics of how Margo does as a main attraction nowadays. It's entirely possible that Margo flops as a draw and he's forced to fight Williams.

Well in that case Margarito's stubborness must be a lot stronger than his pride. Because if he really wants to clear out the division he is going to have to redeem his loss to Paul Williams. I know you are bitter that Williams didn't give your boy an immediate chance to redeem himself, but it is fairly obvious it wasn't much of an offer for Williams.

Why would he want to rematch a guy he has just had a good win over, a guy who essentially represents danger and no reward. Criticising Floyd about the Margo crap is one thing and understandable, but Paul Williams? I mean he fought him and beat him when no one else wanted to touch him. I also don't buy that Margo is avoiding Williams as a form of retaliation. He clearly wants to make the fight bigger by prolonging it. Williams avoiding the immediate rematch was hardly an arsehole move by boxing standards, it was pretty clear there was nothing in it for Williams.

That's just some theory you've got I guess (not that I find it feasible anyway). Scar, show me where Paul talks about this being an issue, if you didn't just make that up.

I was going to say what the hell...and then I read the rest lol. Arum will put AM in with a name. He knows better. Everyone, AM is fighting the winner of Mayorga and Shane. They will then tell us how credible this money fight opponent is, and we will just go :dead

I think Berto is with DiBella, not sure there.

Yeah I agree with you there, Margarito will be fighting others to make some money before picking up a risky fight like this one where he might end up losing. I really doubt they will consider Williams even if Margarito wins his next two fights. They'll use the "He refused me before, pointless to fight him" excuse for as long as they could.

Oh I never said Williams said it's an issue, this is a prediction from me as to why they refused a rematch with him. I never said Paul or any of his team said that. Also on another interview Williams' team denied that they refused a rematch with Paul.

Margarito isn't unbeatable. He lost to Williams, lost the fight half of the fight to Cotto and had trouble with Clottey. Not that he's a bad fighter of course but he IS beatable.

I don't think they're dodging any "risky" fights to be honest..I think he just has some hatred for Paul Williams over what happened after their first match.

As Antonio Margarito walked into the room followed by his team which included his wife, all dressed in matching Team Margarito track suits, his Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank took the opportunity to introduce his fighter “It was a great fight. Obviously I scored it for my guy but it was close enough to not deny the judges’ decision. Antonio is in the mix with Cotto. Margarito is a Top Rank fighter and we protect our fighters.”
Margarito, visually disappointed, did not hide behind sunglasses to cover up his bruised right eye as he addressed the collected media “I think they told Paul Williams that all he had to do was stay on his feet because I thought I won the fight. He threw punches but most of them I caught with my gloves.”
Margarito then proceeded to hint at shady play by Williams’ promoter “Dan Goossen must have a lot of power in this town but the fans saw the fight. Williams is the one that came out cut and I might have some bruises but my face is clean.”
To the idea of a rematch with Williams, Margarito stated “I feel I was robbed, I feel that I did enough to win so I would only want a rematch if Bob Arum promotes because I wouldn’t want to get robbed by Goossen again.” At this point Arum felt compelled to interject “we trust the decision of the judges as final and I think that it is unfair that Antonio is hinting that there was foul play.”
After a couple of more questions, Margarito bid a quick farewell but not before and impromptu roundtable interview was held with mostly Hispanic media. When Margarito was asked if he agreed with Arum’s last statement, he said “I feel Bob Arum should have defended me a little bit more regarding the decision.”

I believe Team Margarito, honestly. That's the basis for my argument. I felt the documentation provided and version of the story they had was overwhelmingly more believable.

Do you believe Team Williams or Team Margarito?
