A while back i posted this and ppl thot it was insane. wondering if theres a diferent point of view now.

***I think a Marques vs. Cotto fight wud be a great fight, both smart fighters and strong punchers. And IMO i think if marquez steped up to Welter and challenged Cotto it wud overshadow Pac's step up to old de la hoya. Any thots???***

Personally, no... i think Marquez would get crushed against Cotto at 147. Marquez is not Pac, and im not sure he would have the speed or firepower to keep cotto off him enough to keep him from wearing him down. Also, i couldnt imagine Cotto NOT getting pissed on by the boxing world if he even considered this fight.

135 is really Marquez's limit. It's not like he was a career lightweight, then maybe he'd have a shot of being successful at Welterweight...but its too much weight for him. Cotto would beat him in an uncompetitive match.

dude...this isnt video game boxing....marquez fought 13 years at 126.....
he would get smashed to pieces...he doesnt have enough fire power to keep a welter off of him and hasnt proved it at 140...doing what he did at 135 is pretty amazing...but lets not go overboard ...not to mention hes almost 37.........which is OLD for fighters that small...

I don't think promoters would even consider this one unless a larry merchant talks about it with a dan rafael.

Nah. Cotto would destroy Marquez in a couple of rounds. Not a good fight at all.
