..."shake up" their style a little from time to time, and name the boxers who you believe could benefit from it. Boxers that are too predictable at this point, they fight the same way everytime out...in turn, not having the success they maybe could have if they fought a different way. There is a genuine "blueprint" for them. Not a drastic change in their style. A few ideas... Switching stance from time to time (not over the top). Fighting more aggressively in spurts. Offering more movement. Fighting less aggressive/more composure. Etc, etc.
Obviously paul williams but also juanma if he wants to have a longer career. I would like to see maidana become better as well.
Lopez can box really well at times, but he gets dragged into places he shouldn't be too easily. What do you think Maidana could do to switch up his style? He is basically just a walk forward whilst throwing bombs guy.
Wladimir could go into fights and have them over in three rounds and throw more left hooks in those three than he does in some of his ten or twelve round victories. I understand being cautious in certain fights but he can go out there and destroy some guys in under six if he pleases.
Abraham did really well up to a point against Ward. He mixed his gameplan up a bit, came out aggressive, probably surprising Ward somewhat...and had success. There's a definite "blueprint" on how to beat Abraham, but just coming out aggressively and making Ward adjust shows what a little "shake up" can do.
Good shout ! Also, If Clottey came forward more in his next high profile fight he would catch his oppenent right of guard and probably win. Imo he drew with Cotto
Definitely. The guy is huge, and has surprisingly good movement and quick feet. He could let his hands go earlier, and still avoid the punches that make him so cautious early.
yeah but I would like to see him become better, a better trainer would probably have helped him, its to bad jmm blocked him from working with nacho, imagine maidana with better defense and accurate punches. maybe also pascal with better stamina.
The threads not really about improving a boxer, example - stamina. More like, using the tools a boxer has, what could a boxer do to stop them being so predictable, what can they do to catch an opponent off guard. Fight more aggressive, less aggresive, more movement, etc. :good
Pavlik! (Double up the jab, double up the jab!) Abraham, J. Taylor, if he is indeed coming back. Paul williams is done. Retirement is the only real option for him, either that or a long break.
