Any active fighters, formerly world-ranked, on a worse skid than Rubin "Mr. Hollywood" Williams?

He is ZERO and THIRTY (with a full TWENTY of those LOSSES BY KO) rewinding all the way to his draw 11½ years ago with Antwun Echols in January of 2007, when he was 29-2 (16). Coming into the fight with Echols he was on a three win streak following his unsuccessful challenge of then unbeaten IBF super middleweight champion Jeff Lacy. Before that his only professional defeat was a 42-second blitzkrieg at the hands of Colombian glass cannon Epi Mendoza, himself later destined to become prospect fodder although he never lost anywhere near 30 in a row (his worst run, surprisingly, is only 4) as he still manages to crush a can or upset a false prospect here and there, and still has an overall record in the black...although like Williams, he is 42 years old and like Williams, it boggles the mind why he is still fighting and why anyone is letting them.

Here was Rubin's chin, in his prime, during the first George W. Bush administration:

And somehow, since 2007, thirty times, commissions have perused Williams' credentials and said "yeah, you're cleared for battle". :dunno At least until 2010 he was taking on European level guys at worst and hot prospects with bright futures ahead of them like Andre Ward - and was mostly going the distance or getting stopped late and/or via cuts. In that period he was even invited to participate in Season 4 of The Contender in Singapore - but had to withdraw for undisclosed health reasons - and while certainly nobody's outright tourney fave he was still pegged by contemporary handicappers as being a tough out and valuable learning experience for anybody he might have been matched with in the brackets. He also had a humiliating cameo in the MMA world around then, submitting to venerable legend and sport pioneer Kazushi Sakuraba via kimura in less than a round. Once he jumped to heavyweight, though (where 18 of his last 19 contests have taken place), it all unraveled as he is ZERO and EIGHTEEN in the division with FOURTEEN of those LOSSES BY KO.

Somebody in Detroit, please, COME GET YO MANZ! :shakehead:

Also, this has bugged me for roughly a dozen years now, how did he come by the nickname "Mr. Hollywood" in the first place? Did he briefly enjoy some long-forgotten semi-successful crossover stardom at one point before he started gobbling up L's like Pacman going after pellets? Did he do a guest spot on Will & Grace in the final season before the revival? Did he do a stint with the nWo as Hogan's bodyguard in WCW before debuting in pro boxing? Did he used to do porn? (he certainly has the mustache for it)

What's fucked up from a sportsmanship POV, in addition to concerns about Rubin's health long-term, is that you have fat useless pieces of garbage like Daniel Martz (who tonight is taking on another fat useless piece of garbage in Richard Carmack - both of them formerly touted as vaguely serious "American heavyweight prospects" early in their careers, when Carmack started out with a very padded 12-0 record with ten kayos and Martz picked up a fluke injury stoppage over Alexis Santos; the pair now tipping and risking shattering the scale together at ONE THIRD OF A TON combined) tripling up on victories over the burnt out blown up husk of Williams in the last few years. This lard ass is 16-6-1 (13), but if commissions had done the right thing and pulled the plug on Williams' career not only would Martz be 13-6-1 (11) instead, but he wouldn't get to lay claim to having thrice vanquished a former world title challenger!

    Infuriating, this sport.

I wish we still had the old "read the thread!" emoticon, because no. Check the wording of my title.

Rockin' Robin was never world ranked. At least I wouldn't think he sniffed any org's top 500 in his very brief period of having a positive record...for like three months after his pro debut. :sisi1

I think he was from the same gym as Rydell Booker, who lost to Toney and vanished.

Love the fact the first thing he throws is a jab with the wrong hand......Then the right one.

Guy has brought a different meaning to the 'double jab'.
