You can, but it's a convoluted process.

i think they do and they don't

for match making, your going to look at both fighters records...

but records don't mean much because someone could have 10wins outta 10 and fought **** fighters and not been challenged...where as someone could have the same record but by fighting top quality opponents and then you could have a fighter who has had 5 fights lost 4 of them but has just been put in the ring with good boxers

what i'm trying to say is you can't tell how good a boxer is just by his record....it does give you an idication but by no means does it tell the boxers story

What really matters is level of competition and who you've fought, what tournaments you've been in, imo.

When people say records in the amateurs dont matter, are they trying to make people who lose feel better, or are they assuming that they want to go pro and its all just more experience? Cause I dont plan on going pro and all anyone ever asks you if you box is what your record is and id like to have a decent number to say if all i ever did was amateur.

No, it truly doesn't matter. 10 wins over bums doesn't mean as much or help you as much as two hard losses to open class fighters at a national tournament, imo.

record does matter to me. i would rather say im 25-2 then 2-25.

It may not mean that much but you fight to win. Fighting is about WINNING. You dont fight to lose. Too many loses can be bad for your confidence in my opinion.

If your losing all the time look for a new coach because your either a **** fighter or your coach is taking the wrong fights at that stage for your ability. You want to have competitive fights at the early stage of your am career so you can learn in the ring, get use to the crowd, get use to your nerves. As you get better then step it up and test yourself.

I don't think anyone said they liked to lose. Wins and losses are what they are, you go up and down with them just being human. There are reasons your overall record dosen't mean a whole lot though. BTW, What up kolya, how you livin? you fighting at ringside coming up or PAL later on?

Yeah, my last fight was May 16th. I have a lot of stuff to sort out before I fight again I think. Want to get back in though.

    Also by the way....

I think records matter as far as wantin to win... but wins and losses dont define u as a boxer imo
