    LA TIMES

Miguel Cotto is due in New York on Tuesday to discuss his June fight against Joshua Clottey but another matter emerged last week: the firing of his uncle-trainer Evangelista Cotto and the possible Puerto Rico criminal case that could accompany a fight the pair had at a gym last week.
Cotto, who claims a world welterweight title, has had a contentious relationship with his uncle for an extended period.
"I always knew the relationship was strained," Cotto's promoter Bob Arum told The Times on Monday. "It was terrible before Miguel fought [and loss to Antonio] Margarito. They weren't even talking. It was totally dysfunctional. But I never thought it'd come to blows."
According to news reports that Arum confirmed, Evangelista threw a cement block that struck the window of the boxer's new 2009 Jaguar.
"This is true," Arum said. "I'm told he was throwing it [the block] at Miguel."
Arum said he's vowed to not interfere in the dispute even if his million-dollar fighter is subject to physical harm, because "it's family."
Arum, however, said it's clear Evangelista is out. He said when he went to purchase airline tickets and hotel rooms for Cotto's trip to New York, Cotto's attorney informed the promoter, "Evangelista is off the list."

You'd think so but his interview was weird. He gave strong hints that he had something else lined up.

I honestly reckon it could be Oscar v JCC Jr.

No, the announcement hasn't happened, but they spoke to him on the issue before but he wouldn't give details.

    But he said:

    ---

"I'm excited because people will be shocked," he said, flanked by business partner and close friend Richard Schaefer. "You know I've always fought the best. That's all I'm going to say."

I have no idea what De La Hoya meant with that opening remark, but his comments became no more clear, so I asked him if he could be more specific. He couldn't.

"I haven't been this excited since winning the gold medal. It's a major move in my career," he said. "It's strategic and well-thought out. I've been thinking about this and it's firm. People ask me if I'm going to retire, and I didn't want to base my decision on my last performance because emotions are riding so high or so low after a fight, you don't want to make a decision like that. You don't want to think about it that night. You want to make an intelligent decision."

    ---

Take what you will from it, but I honestly don't think he's ready to retire. Why would he say retiring is 'exciting' and a 'major move in his career' and I don't think peopel would be shocked if he retired, and they suggested people will be shocked, which makes me think we could be in for another fight, namley Oscar v JCC Jr.

Based on that he won't retire but I'm not sure he wasn't lying.
I'm expecting him to announce his retirement.
