I dont overly rate Magee, but he has gone on to win the WBA int title. What prime SMW has Froch beaten who has done more at SMW? Reid was past his best, Pascal didnt do anything at SMW, neither has Dirrell, Taylor, Johnson etc
Yes,I honestly believe Froch will win this. I'm really looking forward to being there when Froch becomes world champion again :good
Fair play on Magee. Can't really compare all three are different from way back then. You're not comparing a razor-thin decision to being sparked out are you? Bute should not be undefeated, he has been KO'd as far as I'm concerned; I don't care what happened in the rematch, in that fight he was stopped and that is something that has never happened to Mr. Froch. I do think Bute is the favourite though but let's not forget about Andrade - Bute is no superman.
Having Bika in a fighters top 5 wins doesn't really forward you argument that much....his best win was against a very, very average Peter Manfredo. I can't get beyond the sight of Bute flopping around the ring like a drunk against Andrade...on the same night and anywhere else in the world that fight would have been stopped in the last
Well, KO is a matter of not getting up before 10 real-time seconds from being floored. Since Bute objectively stood on his feet 8 (eight) seconds after being hit and since that was the only thing he had to do (the round time was over), there is no way to interpret the ending of the match as a possible KO, regardless of referee's somehow debatable counting. It was a KD by all means (not a matter of "as far as one is concerned") and the 12th round was very close to the disaster for Bute, but once he got up just in time, his victory in that match should be no longer a matter of debate. For technical details, read again the reference article.
The Andrade meltdown is over-stated. Bute had handled him throughout the fight and it was a close thing at the end, with seconds on the clock. Bute has never been smashed up the way Froch was against Taylor. For seven rounds that was a drubbing, and Froch was VERY lucky he got to Taylor late. You can pick holes in anyone.
His best win is over Codrington, actually. I can't beyond the sight of Froch getting out-hustled by a worn-out old Kessler and getting shown up for seven rounds against Taylor. Bute is going to hammer him. It's sad, but true.
I'm probably one of Carl's most ardent supporters and know his family on a personal level, but I can't realistically see this being a good night for him. Unfortunately, I reckon Bute will ease quite comfortably to a UD or even have a decent shout at stopping him late. Having said that, I would never completely rule out the possibility of Carl pulling it back from the jaws of defeat.
Yes, that was a terrible image. That's not so sure. Keep in mind that Bute looked pretty dominant during all the match and while IBF rules do not explicitly mention if such flopping should be a reason to stop the match, they give an indication when specifying that 3 round KD-s do not grant the automatic end of the fight. That means the referee (who is given the full judging power) should very carefully evaluate the situation and don't end the fight with too much haste just because a fighter gets heavily dominated for a short period of time. The referee had no clear technical argument to stop the fight before the last Andrade punch (since Bute was not yet KD-ed, he was just displaying signs of being in difficulty and avoiding his opponent), and after he was finally KD-ed Bute stood on his feet in due time, when the round time was over so the fight could not possibly restart, therefore there was nothing left to be stopped. It is also possible that another referee could have judged hastily that Bute's state at the end of the round was too pitiful to allow him to stand in the ring, but such a stoppage without even a KD would have been by far more controversial than what actually happened.
I agree Bute should have been stopped against Andrade. Bika was a win I noted, along with IBF SMW champ Berrio. Which SMWs has Froch beaten as accomplished at SMW? Magee? Bute beat him also. Taylor, Dirrell, Johnson etc havent done as much at SMW as Bika
I really like Froch, but just cant see him winning. I dont think hes as big a puncher as many think. A solid puncher for sure, but not massive. I think Bute scores a shut out or late stoppage.
