...choose a period during said bout/clip that made you sit back in awe. A description of not only how it played out, but what was on your mind at the time would be nice aswell. :good
Holyfield vs. Qawi 1. and Morales vs. In Jin Chi. Too tired to go into a lengthy description, but lets just say i was in awe of Evander and Erik.
I was in awe of Pacquiao in the Cotto fight...I didn't expect him to completely break Cotto's will in four rounds...
Yeah definitely, after the first round...the period after that were he just dominated Cotto with speed/power/angles, etc...I was very impressed.
To name a couple i was in awe of Gabriel Ruelas when he beat Jesse J Leija for the tiltle, i was big on Leija after a brilliant win over Azumah and knew Gabe was good but i didnt think hed beat Leija the way he did, he looked like a young Roberto Duran in that fight, to bad that after the tragic fight with Jimmy Garcia that Ruelas was never the same. Also impressed with Nunn after easily dominating a young and prime Frank Tate. Nunn made a then excellent fighter look like a tomotoe can. Also Nunns one punch ko over highly regarded Sumbu Kalamby............... There are so many fights i can think of but those 2 came to mind and i figured most of the posters here might not mention those fights.
You will be impresed and wonder why Ruelas and Nunn didnt end up being all time greats... Very talented champs but fell short of achieving greatness, but in these fights they were great that night.
Round 4 of Pacquiao-Cotto Round 12 of Toney-Jirov Round 2 of Duran-Leonard Round 5 of Whitaker-McGirt II
I'll check them out tonight if I get a chance. I've been watching so much live boxing over the past year that I've neglected watching all these past bouts.
I have yet to see this bout aswell yet. I was quite drunk and fell asleep after the Malignaggi bout (?)
Pacquiao-Barrera - I was shocked to see Barrera, who I viewed as a God-like figure in the featherweight division, be ripped to shreds by this nobody. He was having the prestige beaten out of him by this Filipino taz-manian devil, who just wouldn’t leave him alone. Incredible. Trinidad-Vargas – Although I didn’t watch it live, I still enjoyed every minute of it when I saw it for the first time. Because beforehand, I had only articles and stories to go by. When I finally got my hands on it, and Tito’s left-hook came out swinging and scoring him two knockdowns immediately the in the first round , I was thinking “Damn! Those were vicious!”. Then I couldn’t help but admire a young Vargas’ cool-headedness in not letting the brutal Trinidad finish him off right there and then. And the knockdown he scores of his own a few rounds later? ****ing awesome!! That's why no sport can **** with boxing!
