Do you remember them showing Barrera-Pacquiao on the BBC? I hadn't seen much of Pacquiao upto that point, but he didn't half impress me in this bout.
CHAVEZ/rosario SANCHEZ/gomez SPINKS/ holmes I for the reason was that I thought Holmes was gonna kill Spinks and Spinks dipped and dodged and looked brilliant in confusing Holmes a truly great performance and the first LH to win the HW title. Actually still the only one as Toney and Jones beat paper champs.
Roy Jones Junior vs. Thony Thornton This one was the first fight that really got my attention for boxing. Before that i only watched boxing when Henry Maske or Axel Schulz were fighting. I wasn´t a fan of boxing, but of sports in general and those Maske, Schulz events were huge sport events here in Germany. So i simply had to watch them (and get bored most times) Then one day they showed RJJ vs. Thornton on a German sports channel and by accident i switched in. I was absolutely impressed by that blinding speed of RJJ and probably stopped breathing for that unbelievable 45 seconds/70 punches barrage that ended the fight. That one didn´t just make me a Rjj-fan, it made me a fan of the sport of boxing too.
Yep, the BBC :good The BBC also showed us Mayorga blasting away Vernon Forrest, lol I couldn't believe it. I was more shocked than Vernon . And I remember being deeply offended when Tarver barked "Yeah I got a question. You got any excuses tonight, Roy?", and having a mental breakdown when he knocked Jones the **** out, minutes later.
Yeah, what Tarver said is one of those statements that can go great for you ("I knew I was going to knock him out")...or go really bad with the boxer either being KO'd or outclassed...(pretty much like Allan Green in his last two bouts).
