try xtreme boxing club. Its run by former cuban boxer and now trainer
Jorge Rubio(helped train David Haye for a fight once.)

    1645 w 40th st hialeah fl. 80$/month

It also has a bjj classes in the same facility.

private lessons are just too pricey.

Checkout the creditials of your trainer before joining a gym.

i wouldnt have an issue with the an hour but you say its not worth it because it would be better spending the time learning how to punch?

great info.... im not looking to get serious or anything i just want to do it as a way to stay in shape... but i'd also like to learn real life technique so it keeps me even more focused

damm good looks... what are bjj classes?

The best way to learn boxing is to watch the other guys make mistakes then figure out how not to make them. On Friday Night Fights Teddy Atlas and Bernard Hopkins made an analysis of the flaws in Kelly Pavlik's style. For the novice boxer, that was free instruction. If you are receptive and willing to learn, you will. You don't need to pay $50 an hour to learn to box.

We charge the kids at our gym 15, because they are mostly inner-city and are unable to pay any higher amount. Normally, we charge 30 per month. Everything is negotiable.

We have all kinds of equipment, ring, and 2 coaches, including me.

We're not in it to make money. Hell, we're happy to just be able to pay the rent.

It really depends on the gym... If you go to the Wild Card (Freddie Roach's) gym, expect to pay a lot more. Most local gyms have the same prices. We do a lot of collaboration with the other gyms in the area, local shows, sparring, etc, so it pays to keep the prices relatively the same.
